My IE Browser has been hijacked! I have run AdAware and SpyBot. Both removed a lot of spyware but I can't seem to rid this pc of it. After cleaning in safemode and normal mode, SptBot finds Several problems, namley CoolWWWSearch. I delete them and rescan until everything looks clean. Then, as soon as i open my web browser, i get a pop up. Then when i scan again, all of the junk is back. This is my first attempt at using HiJack this so any help would be very welcome.

Here is my HJT Log file.

Hello jpringle,

You have one of the more difficult infections to get rid of these days. It takes several steps and attention to detail during the fix as it has a habit of reinstalling itself and/or changing names if things are not done in the exact order given.

Step#1:

The other problem we have is TeaTimer will have to be disabled during the fix because if enabled it blocks the fix from taking place so the first thing I will ask you to do is to disable it so that it does not start with windows. Please open Spybot SD and go to Tools on the menu on the left side of the window and choose resident and take the check mark out of the box that makes Tea Timer run and also out of the SDHelper box to be certain that it doesn't stop the fix from working. Reboot your computer.

Step#2: (the other service enumerator that we are testing)

1. Download Service Filter
2. Extract it to it's own folder.
3. Click on ServiceFilter.vbs
4. A text file called POST_THIS will be in the same folder
5. Please use Edit>Select all then Edit>Copy to obtain the contents
6. Please Post them into this thread using 'Add Reply'
Hi, Thanks for helping me with this. sorry i haven't responded yet. I thouht it would email me when someone responded. Also, I have been out of town all week. I will try these and get back to you. Thanks, Jeremy :)
I got an email virus today and am trying to get rid of it. So no problem with the delay. I suggest however, that as well as the servicefilter log file you scan again with HijackThis and post that log file as well so we have current information for the instructions. ANother thing if you can keep your computer on and don't reboot after the HijackThis log file it would be helpful in getting rid of your malware
Well, you may have given up on me already anyways, but I want to officially cancel this post. I was helping a friend with this laptop and he needed it back while i was waiting on the first reply. I let him know that i had some things to try now but he hasn't been able to get it back to me. Thanks again for trying to help me. I will certainly use this service the next time "I" have a hijack problem. Best regards, Jeremy
