Download FxAgentB.exe from HERE and save it to your desktop. After downloading, double-click the FxAgentB file to run it and the program will scan your entire hard drive - this may take a while. When it is done, it will generate a log file called FxAgentB.log - save that information as you will need to paste it here later. Reboot when done.

Next click HERE to download CWShredder by Merijn Bellekom and run it, hit 'fix' as opposed to 'scan only'. If you already have CWShredder, click 'Check for update' and make sure you are running version 1.59.1. Reboot when done.

Then click HERE to download Ad-Aware SE and install. Before scanning click on "check for updates now" to make sure you have the latest reference file. Click "Start", select "Perform Full System scan" and "Next" to start the scan. When the scan is finished, the screen will tell you if anything has been found, click "Next". The bad files will be listed, right click the pane and click "Select all objects" - this will put a check mark in the box at the side, click "Next" again and click "OK" at the prompt "# objects will be removed. Continue?".

Reboot when done, rescan with HijackThis and post a new log here, together with the FxAgentB log.

I will check back in tomorrow.
Hi Siggyx. How's your day going?

Ok. I ran FxAgentB. It came up clean and gave me this message: "Backdoor.Agent.B has not been found on your computer." And there was no log produced, so I don't have a log to show you.

I then booted and ran CWShredder. Everything came up clean.

Then I ran Adaware, making sure I checked for updates first. That came up with a few things. I saved the log and will paste it below. I followed through with the cleanup on that.

I then booted and ran a new Hijackthis scan. The log is also below.

I still get this for a home page: http://xysearch.biz/?wmid=1010 every time I open up Internet Explorer.

And then this window pops up everytime I open up internet explorer. Click on the link below. I did another printscreen so you could see exactly what's popping up.

Hi guys

Click here to download DllCompare. Start the Program with and click the Run Locate.com - be sure the \Windows\System32 directory is in the box and wait until the the blue text says it has 'completed the scan'.

Click the Compare button to start the next process. The results appear in two panes - files in the upper pane have been verified to 'exist', files in the lower pane were 'not able to be accessed'. Very few files should be listed in the lower pane when the Compare scan is complete. Click on each of the listed entries in the lower pane to select them. Right-click on the file and use the option Rescan. This will cause Windows Find to see if the file does exist, and then if so it will be removed from the list to reduce the number of identified files.

Click the Make a Log of what was found button and post the log here in this thread and wait for further instructions.
Ok. Here it is. * DLLCompare Log version(1.0.0.125) Files Found that Windows does not See or cannot Access *Not everything listed here means you are infected! ________________________________________________ O^E says: "There were no files found :)" ________________________________________________ 1,345 items found: 1,345 files (1 H/S), 0 directories. Click here to download Pocket Killbox by Option^Explicit. Extract it from the zip file then double-click on Killbox.exe to run it.

Select the Delete on reboot option.

In the 'Full Path of File to Delete' box, copy and paste the following, clicking the 'Delete File' button (red circle with a white X) after pasting:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\TGBRFV_.exe

It will prompt you to reboot, press the NO button. Instead, copy and paste the following and click the 'Delete File' button again:

C:\Windows\System32\TGBRFV_5.dll

When it prompts you to reboot this time, press the YES button.

After restarting, with only HijackThis running, scan and when complete, remove the following entry by checking the box to the left and clicking 'fixed checked':

F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=Userinit.exe,

Reboot again when done, rescan with HJT and post a new log here.
Wow! I think that did it. I'm able to change my IE home page now. And, something I forgot to mention since this problem started…. I wasn't able to open MS Word or PowerPoint. Now they are both working again as well. What exactly was it? Here is the latest log from HijackThis. What next? :D

It was a hijacker. Still a few fragments in there. Open HijackThis, scan and when complete, remove the following entries by checking the box to the left and clicking 'fixed checked':

Reboot into safe mode by tapping F8 after the BIOS has loaded, find and delete the following:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\iexplore.exe

Reboot when done, rescan with HJT and post a new log here for a final check over.
It Hijacks MS Office too? Here is my latest log. I could not find iexplore.exe in the system32 folder. Not under safe mode and not in regular mode. I was able to check off the other things you wanted me to. What next? And what should I do to prevent this from happening again?
