Help!!!!! :rant2:

I have a computer that seems to be infected with a Trojan.Startpage virus…. I have Symantec Anti-virus installed (which is how I found the problem) and have already run Spybot and AdAware… The problem is, I cannot delete the infected file (qrkohbqq.dll), no matter where I attempt it… The file seems to have come from: TGBRFV_.EXE, which I have removed…

Here is a copy of the HJT log file:

Do this so you can see hidden files and folders - click here to download xphidden.zip. Extract xphidden.reg from the zip file and save it to the desktop. When done, double click the xphidden.reg and when asked to merge say yes.

Click here to download TheKillbox by Option^Explicit. Extract it from the zip file then double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. In the 'Paste Full Path of File to Delete' box, copy and paste this entry:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\TGBRFV_.exe

Don't click any of the buttons though, instead please click on the Action menu and choose "Delete on Reboot". In the window that opens up, click on the File menu and choose "Add File". The file should show up in the window. Then repeat the process, this time adding:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\TGBRFV_5.dll

If that's successful you should have the two files listed. Then in the same window choose the Action menu and select "Process and Reboot". You'll be prompted to reboot, do so.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run TheKillbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try TheKillbox again.

With only HijackThis running, close all browser windows, scan and when complete, remove the following entries by checking the box to the left and clicking 'fixed checked':

Reboot when done and reset your homepage in IE. Rescan with HJT and post the log. Let us know if you are still being redirected.
Did as suggested, however, the infected file (qrkohbqq.dll) is still being picked up by Norton Anti-Virus and it will not allow me to delete… In fact, whenever the file is renamed, something within Windows (I think) turns right around and creates it all over again!!!

Here is the ltest HJT log file (apparently, the first log file was created with a bunch of processes being stopped via MSCONFIG):

"This file could not be deleted." At this point, we are going to re-format the hard drive and do a complete re-install.. (My boss says too much time has been wasted on trying to figure this one out.) :( Thanks for your help and if you can find anything else about this file, I'd love to hear about it (just in case we run into this same problem with someone else…)
OK, well good luck with it.

To help keep you clean follow the recommendations in Tony's article here:

So how did I get infected in the first place?
