Hi…
Well, this is my last hope. After running ad-aware, and spybot s&d several times, I am still unable to remove the VX2 Malware on my computer. I have the strong variance that ad-aware and SB S&D cannot get rid of. They both can detect them, but won't get rid of them. This all started when I went to get on the internet one day and my browser was hijacked. So, I tried everything I could think of, then finally I did a system restore. That at least got me back and able to browse, however, I still have this strong variance of VX2 Malware. I continue to get these same 5-6 pop-ups daily all day long. When I wake up in the morning, or I am gone for a few hours, My monitor will have 16 pop-ups on it. I have tried everything but with no luck. I even tried the add on VX2 tool that ad-aware provides, again, it will detect it, but NOT delete it. This seems to be a big problem for other people as well from what I am seeing in other forums. Any suggestions? Solutions? Advise? ANYTHING??? HELP! :rant2:

Hi shannon74133, and welcome to TomCoyote!

I'm 'KotaGuy and I will be helping you with your HijackThis log.

Before we get started on your fix, I would like you to do something for me.

I'm a little concerned about this entry: O4 - Global Startup: yuyggp.exe in your log. It has a name that I wasn't able to get any information on when I was investigating it. The file seems to be randomly named and as such is most likely some form of Malware(randomly naming files is common with some infections), but I would like to make sure it is such and not something you need in there.

Could you please search for yuyggp.exe. When found, right click on it, choose Properties, click on the Version tab. Let me know what information is listed about that file. Company Name, Version, Copyright, etc.

Could you also let me know what folder you found this file in, please?

You may need to show hidden files to be able to find this file when searching. To show hidden files:

1. Click Start.
2. Open My Computer.
3. Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
4. Select the View Tab.
5. Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
6. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
7. Click Yes to confirm.
8. Click OK.

Also, with only HijackThis running, please scan and post a new log. I would like to see if anything has changed since your last log.

Thanks!
KotaGuy, As like you, I too was unable to find information on this file (Company Name, Version, Copyright, etc….) But here is the folder it was found in: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup When I clicked on the folder itself the (yuyggp.exe) this is what it gave me : it takes me to a startup folder and then I click on that Icon that says Desktop Configuration Settings and then that opens up in notepad and this is what it says: [.ShellClassInfo] LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21787 I am now going to run HJT and post the log.
 KotaGuy,
Here is the latest HJT log as you requested:

I will patiently await your next reply. Thank You!

Shannon Lynn :o)
Hi Shannon74133, thanks for posting the new log.

OK, I noticed you have Spybot's Tea Timer running. This is good! But, when we try to do the fix, Tea Timer will warn you about it. When it does, just have it accept all the changes.

This is what I need you to do.

Hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete to bring up the Task Manager. End Task the following:

yiyaau.exe

Next, run and scan with HijackThis. Make sure all other browsers and windows are closed. Place a check beside the following if found and fix:

O4 - Global Startup: yuyggp.exe
O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://207.188.7.150/274325abc73e07ae9005/…ip/RdxIE601.cab

You may also fix this line if you don't recognize the website:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.ktul.com/. This URL belongs to a News Station by the way, I checked.

Next, boot into Safe Mode. To do this, tap the F8 button as your computer starts up. This will bring up and Advanced Options menu. Choose Safe Mode and press Enter.

Once in Safe Mode, search for and delete to following files if found:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\yuyggp.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\yiyaau.exe

Please clean out your temp files. Do this by clicking Start>Run, type in cleanmgr, hit Enter. Let it scan. Place a check beside Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recylce Bin. Click OK.

Once back in Windows, with only HijackThis running, scan and post the new log please.

Thanks!
KotaGuy, I do not see application yiyaau.exe when I pull up the task manager when I go to processes. It does not show up? Should I continue on with step 2? Please advise, thank you!
Hi Shannon74133. OK, the process might be hidden. Do this please: 1. Now try doing the things I outlined in my previous post.
KotaGuy,

I had followed those steps in the previous post, but I'm still unable to find that process on the task manager. Furthermore, when I did a search for it, I was unable to find it either. I was able to find the yuyggp.exe and deleted it as you suggested. I also ran safe mode as suggested and ran my HJT scan, and was only able to find one of the suggested files, O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://207.188.7.150/274325abc73e07ae9005/…ip/RdxIE601.cab
I did not delete the www.ktul.com website because I do want that. Its my homepage.

Here is my latested scan as you suggested that I post:

Hmmm, OK….

That file has to be there somewhere, otherwise it would not show in your active process list like such:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\dcfssvc.exe
c:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\vso\mcvsrte.exe
C:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\PERSON~1\MPFSERVICE.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\yiyaau.exe
C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\SPAMKI~1\MSKSrvr.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe
C:\PROGRA~1\McAfee\SPAMKI~1\MskAgent.exe
C:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\agent\mcagent.exe

You're positive you are spelling the name of the file right when searching for it? It should show up as being in the C:\WINDOWS\System32 folder. Could you maybe try going to that folder and looking for the file itself instead of using the Windows search/find program(if that is what you were doing)? When there, sort the files by name(click the "Name" toolbar), that should make it easier for you to find.

I have a couple ideas… need to run them by one of our resident gurus here first though.

I'll get back to you a soon as possible.

Thanks!
Hello again Shannon74133.

I would like you to download TheKillBox by Option^Explicit. Extract it to its own folder from the zip file, then double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. In the 'Paste Full Path of File to Delete' box, copy and paste this entry and only this entry, make sure it is exact:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\yiyaau.exe

Don't click any of the buttons though, instead please click on the Action menu and choose "Delete on Reboot". Click the button with the red circle with a white X in it. Click OK on the window that appears.

After that, click the exit button to end the pocketkillbox program.

After that, restart the computer so that the killbox can do it's work. Post a new log for review.

Thanks!
KotaGuy,

I did everything above that you asked me to, and here is my latest HJT log:

As far as right now, I seem to be "ok" but I'm not making any promises just yet. *Keeps fingers crossed* Let me know what you in my latest log here and if anything still looks out of whack.
Hi Shannon74133! Thanks for posting the new log.

OK… you got rid of that file named yiyaau.exe, I don't see it anywhere in your log. This is good!

But, this one is back… and running this time:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\yuyggp.exe

Could you please End Task/Disable Spybot's Tea Timer please. It may interfere with this.

Open up TheKillbox. In the 'Paste Full Path of File to Delete' box, copy and paste this entry and only this entry, make sure it is exact:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\yuyggp.exe

Don't click any of the buttons though, instead please click on the Action menu and choose "Delete on Reboot". Click the button with the red circle with a white X in it. Click OK on the window that appears.

After that, click the exit button to end the pocketkillbox program.

After that, restart the computer so that the killbox can do it's work. Post a new log for review.

Thanks!
KotaGuy, This seems to be the problem. I will delete one of those files with KillBox as you suggested, reboot and run an ad-aware scan, and well then the other file will come back. It seems to keep going between the two yuyggp.exe and yiyaau.exe Do you know what? Any other suggestions?
This is what we are trying to figure out…. If you tried to delete yuyggp.exe with TheKillbox, then with only HijackThis running, scan and post the new log please. Thanks!
KotaGuy,

I killed file C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\yuyggp.exe
with KillBox as suggested, and it said file was deleted. Then closed that application and ran a HJT scan. But, as you can see, yiyaau.exe is back…..
