Thanks for your forum. One place where I may have found a solution to my IE Browser problems. Never heard about browser hijack before, but it makes sense now. Just downloaded 'Hijack This' and am now sending the log for your perusal and suggestions as how to proceed.
I recently tried the Windows XP SP 2 and that is when some of these problems seemed to emerge. Their website has little about this problem with IE browser and my ISP didn't even mention it. I guess that finding these solutions is just part of the learning process. I did uninstall the XP SP 2 and my ISP. I had to reinstall the ISP.
During this time I have found that Norton Antivirus has limited success. But did download Lavasoft Ad-Adware SE Personal and it identified numerous (120) items that Norton and Spyware blocker missed.
Call me cheap or frugal, but I just refuse to pay Microsoft for their tech support when their own update may have caused the problem to start with. I wonder why they rush out these updates before they are debugged themselves.
But to give them the benefit of the doubt, as times goes by and systems become more complex, maybe these sorts of problems will always be inherent and consistent. Like a house of cards and how one cards removal can bring the whole thing down.
Your kind of forum deserves more support because you are actually helping address and identify the real problems. Instead of some lumbering corporate bureauracy that may take months if ever to acknowledge their own failures.
So here is my Hijack This log, and I hope that this helps someone else to avoid or solve this problem.
