My computer has been running somewhat sluggishly lately, so I thought I would post my HJT log here for feedback. Any advice as to what in this might be unwanted would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time and help!

Hi Deacon96 :)

You're running an outdated version of HJT. Please download version 1.98.2 here.

Next, make a permanent folder for HijackThis! This is how to make one:

Click My Computer, then C:\
In the menu bar, File->New->Folder.
That will create a folder named New Folder, which you can rename to "HJT" or "HijackThis". Now you have C:\HJT\ folder. Put your HijackThis.exe there, and double click to run it.

If you haven't scanned with Ad-aware SE 1.5 and Spybot s&d 1.3….please download, update (<– very important) and scan with both.

Follow the tutorials:

Install and how to use Ad-aware SE
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ind…showtutorial=48

Install and how to use Spybot s&d
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ind…showtutorial=43

After doing all of the above, please post a new log.
Jacee-

Thanks for your comments!

I have taken the steps outlined in your post and produced the following log after upgrading HJT, scanning with ad-aware, scanning with Search & Destroy, and saving a new HJT log:

Hi again deacon96

First look in Add/Remove Programs for Viewpoint Manager. If it's there, remove it.

Next, rescan with HJT….close all browsers/explorer windows, check these items then click 'fix checked':

It has only been a few minutes, and things seem to have improved. I'm not sure if it's 100%, but I'll post again in a day or so once I've had a chance to do all the things I normally do.

Thanks again!
Jacee- One more thing I failed to mention in my last post - every time I scan with S&D, it detects "DSO Exploit". I elect to have the problem fixed and it tells me that it has been remedied, but the very next time I run it, DSO Exploit is detected again. Just thought that might mean something to you (because it's Greek to me!). Thanks for your help!
Your log looks good :)

The DSO Exploit is a 'glitch' in Spybot s&d. You can read about it here:
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/faq/36.html
Do you have the latest version 1.3? If you don't then you should update.

And finally,I think you may benefit from reading the article "How Did I Get Infected In The First Place" for information on how to secure your PC from spyware/adware/malware.There are several small free programs mentioned there that help with securing your PC against this type of problem.

(Be sure to set a new restore point, now)
