Hi

I cannot stop a page from hijacking my homepage and nuisance pop ups in IE. Attached is my scan log. I am after some one far more experienced than me to help me choose which items to select for deletion. Help would be greatly appreciated.

No hidden file. Could you click here to download CWShredder by Merijn Bellekom and run it, hit 'fix' as opposed to 'scan only'. If you already have CWShredder, click 'Check for update' and make sure you are running version 1.59.1 Reboot when done.

Click here to download Ad-Aware and install. Before scanning click on "check for updates now" to make sure you have the latest reference file. Then click the gear wheel at the top and check these options:

General> activate these: "Automatically save log-file" and "Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal"

Scanning > activate these: "Scan within archives", "Scan active processes", "Scan registry", "Deep scan registry", "Scan my IE Favorites for banned sites" and "Scan my Hosts file"

Tweaks > Scanning Engine> activate this: "Unload recognized processes during scanning."

Tweaks > Cleaning Engine: activate these: "Automatically try to unregister objects prior to deletion" and "Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."

Click "Proceed" to save your settings, then click "Start", make sure "Activate in-depth scan" is ticked green then scan your system. When the scan is finished, the screen will tell you if anything has been found, click "Next". The bad files will be listed, right click the pane and click "Select all objects" - this will put a check mark in the box at the side, click "Next" again and click "OK" at the prompt "# objects will be removed. Continue?".

Reboot when done. Rescan with HJT and post a new log here for a final check over.
Hi Daemon

Thanks heaps you are a legend. All seems to have worked well, the pesky hijacking page has gone. I have an occasional pop up annoying me but so far can deal with that.

Appreciate your time and effort. Attached is the latest scan log.

Make sure that you have no browser windows open as this could prevent the fix from working properly. Open HijackThis, scan and when complete, remove the following entries by checking the box to the left and clicking 'fixed checked':

Click here, for instructions on how to enable hidden files and folders to be visible. After enabling, reboot into safe mode by tapping F8 after the BIOS has loaded, find and delete the following:

C:\WINNT\System32\zydsrryb.exe
C:\WINNT\System32\itskbojm.exe

Reboot when done. Click here to make sure that you have the latest Critical Update patches for Windows. It's very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks.

Rescan with HJT and post a new log here for a final check over.
Hi Daemon

As your name suggests you are a genius. I again appreciate your time and kowledge in helping me with this drama. This is what I get for having teenage sons who surf all these bloody porn sites. No more.

A have done all as you requested and did a major update excercise from Microsoft, I hope all is now cured. I am curious what part of the world you are in. I live in Melbourne, Australia.

Await your next reply
Stephen

:)
I'm in the UK.

You appear to have picked up another baddie. Again with only HJT running, have it fix:

O2 - BHO: G1.GZ - {79C03BC5-6C55-4B5B-921F-C02B6F1ABD7B} - C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\APPLIC~1\Pribi\Pribi.dll
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [\Pribi.exe] C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\APPLIC~1\Pribi\Pribi.exe

To help keep you clean have a look at these three applications, easy to use and easy on resources:

SpywareBlaster
SpywareGuard
IE-SPYAD

Post another HJT log.
Thanks Daemon

I cannot believe how this crap keeps getting through. I have done another fix and log. Have also installed those blasters as you recommended so lets hope all is now clear and safe for a while.

I am only using a Linksys router as a hardware firewall. Would you recommend another (software) firewall. As you can probably guess I am not all that famaliar with their setup and operation.

Regards
Stephen
