Hi, I don't know if anybody can help me with this. I am having trouble with a large rectangle box with a "close" prompt, coming up on my screen. It causes me to have to close down the program, as the program becomes locked up. When I hit the close box the program quits. It mostly happens when I am on the internet. I think maybe a couple of times when I am in a program. I have ran a few scans and can't seem to get it fixed. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated
Here is my hijack log.
Thanks

hello abbottvolleyball,

What is the program that you are closing when the window is up?Is it a MS "blue screen" or a windows type message screen?

read this link about this item: C:\PROGRAM FILES\CLIPGENIE\WEBINSTALL.EXE /R
i would uninstall it via the add/remove panel ( if its there, if not we can do it another way)

http://www.pestpatro...c/clipgenie.asp
------------------------------------------------------------
also download update and run ad aware: http://www.lavasoft.de/

and spybot search and destroy: http://www.safer-networking.org/

afterwards post a new HJT log in this thread..............

I had just downloaded new updates and ran spybot and adaware right before posting the last log. I will occ get a blue screen when I start up my computer. But the close box doesn't really look like a normal windows box. I have to close whatever program I am using. Once it was a card making program or many times I will be typing an email and it will freeze and then the close box comes up. It doesn't show any error message. It just won't let me cont until I close out whatever I was working on. Afterwards my internet doesn't work correctly (doesn't bring up websites complete with pictures,etc.) I then normally have to restart my computer for it to work correctly. I looked for clip genie in my add/remove programs, but didn't see it. Thanks for checking out my problem. Just so you know here is one of the blue screen messages I got when starting up my computer Symevent (01) + 0001091E Error:0E:0028:C008EE3A I don't know if you can help me with that or not. Thank you so much

hello abbottvolleyball,

That random close box. Do you have any programs that are set to make automatic updates, downloads etc. try turning that option off, something has to be calling the message box.
the Symevent blue screen seems to be related to a Norton (Symantec product)
Try the search function at the symantec site;
http://www.symantec.com/search/
and this one:
http://support.micro...655&Product=w98

as for this;
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WebInstall2] C:\PROGRAM FILES\CLIPGENIE\WEBINSTALL.EXE /R
Run HJT, close all windows and have it fix the above item.
next drill down to the C:\PROGRAMS FILES\Clipgenie and delete the folder.

let me know how it s going
