Let's get rid of that Winsock hijack first.

To do that, do these steps:

1. Download and run: http://www.cexx.org/LSPFix.exe
2. Check 'I know what I'm doing'.
3. Select 'osmim.dll'.
4. Click the right-pointing arrow.
5. Click 'Finished'.
6. Restart your computer. Verify your Internet connection is working.

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!

Fix these items with Hijack This!:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,SearchAssistant = about:blank

Excellent work!!!!

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!

Fix these items:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {87766247-311C-43B4-8499-3D5FEC94A183} - C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\WinTools\WToolsB.dll (file missing)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinTools] C:\Program Files\Common Files\WinTools\WToolsA.exe

Next please pull up the task manager by pushing these three keys at the same time:

<Ctrl><Alt><Del>

Click the "Processes" tab at the top.

Scroll thru the processes and find:

WToolsA.exe

Click it to hilight it, then click "End Process".

Close the task manager.

Then find an delete:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\WinTools\WToolsA.exe <--- file

Reboot in "safe" mode.

Find and delete:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\WinTools <--- FOLDER

Boot in normal mode and post a new log file. :)

Did you have Windows set to show "hidden" files?

Use the link in my signature to tell how to show "hidden" files, and search again.

The log is looking PERFECT now!

But we do have one thing we need to check for.

Your original log had this in it:

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,SearchAssistant = about:blank

Sometimes there is a hidden DLL that will cause this hijack to return after a few reboots.

Fortunately, we have canned "find and fix" for that. So please do this:

Download this zip.

http://tools.zerosrealm.com/pv.zip
Please unzip it to the desktop. It will not work if you run it from inside the zip.

After unzipped go to the desktop. Open the pv folder. Double click on the runme.bat

A dos window will open. Please select option 1 for explorer dll's by typing 1 and then pressing enter.

Notepad will open with a log in it. Please copy and paste the log into this post.

Good news!!! You do NOT have the hidden DLL!!!

If you can't find the Wintools folder I wouldn't worry about it. There's no evidence of it in your log file, so it's a not a disaster.

I'd say you're good to go now.

Let me leave you with a few suggestions to help prevent future infections.

GOD bless!!!

M68 :)

Items you may wish to consider to harden your defenses against future infections:

Read "How did I get infected in the first place?" here:

http://boards.cexx.o...topic.php?t=957

Download IE-Spyad here:

https://netfiles.uiu...ww/resource.htm

IE-Spyad puts over 4000 known malicious web sites into IE's "restricted zone" to help prevent you from getting infected.

Check your browser settings here:

http://browsercheck....s.com/index.php

A series of "tests" (and suggested fixes) to help tweak IE's settings to help prevent infections when surfing the web.

Follow safe Internet practices:

1. Keep your virus definitions up to date, and scan your system regularly.

2. Don't open email, or download attachments from unrecognized email addresses.

3. Be careful when downloading email attachments, EVEN FROM PEOPLE YOU KNOW! Many virii, worms, and trojans infect a persons system then immeadiately spread themselves to the people in the infected persons addressbook via email attachments.

4. Be careful downloading files from the Internet. Scan all downloaded files with a reliable UP-TO-DATE antivirus program. Scan "zip" files BEFORE unzipping, and scan all unzipped files BEFORE USING THEM.

5. Keep your Windows and IE current with all the latest patches and updates.

I don't "do" Adaware logs. You can have Adaware delete the things, or go post it in the Adaware support part of this fourm... Sorry :(
