I am not a communications guru at all - please don't be too hard on me!   (I really like when things just work, when it comes to communications.)

I have 2 questions:

I usually use 5 GHz when I am online at home although my laptop will use the 2.4 at times, which I assume is when my 5 is not working at that time?

1.  I bought an appliance that expects me to connect to the internet to set it up.   (I don't buy these types of things often, but maybe I just forgot that I did this with a previous item.)  When setting this appliance up on their app, I had to enable Bluetooth and it wanted my router password.  Is this ok to do  - security-wise?    I think I have to do this to set it up - but there is also a remote and the user guide mentions using just the remote, which I think requires the initial setup to be in place. I intend to just use the remote once I have it setup.  (The instructions do not cover using the remote only for everything.)

2. The item says I need to use 2.4GHz as 5 GHz is not supported.   When I am trying to use this appliance, it will attempt to link to my 2.4 GHz network, correct?  When I am on my laptop or phone at the same time, I can still use the 5 GHz, correct?
