Hello guys,
i am using Windows 10 on my Acer laptop.
I want to install Ubuntu and have a dual boot option.
I have successfully installed Ubuntu, but when I restart the laptop, only Windows 10 loads.
To fix this I tried the following (in this order):
- Source: [https://itsfoss.com/no-grub-windows-linux/]
In the Windows 10 cmd, as admin:
bcdedit /set {bootmgr} path \EFI\ubuntu\grubx64.efi
But failed. - To reverse the previous:

bcdedit /deletevalue {bootmgr} path \EFI\ubuntu\grubx64.efi
but said I used the command wrongly.
bcdedit /set {bootmgr} path \EFI\Microsoft\Boot\bootmgfw.efi
successfully. - Source: [https://helpdeskgeek.com/windows-10/how-to-dual-boot-ubuntu-with-windows-10/]
I used my bootable usb-ubuntu stick to:
In the options panel I unchecked the Safe Boot option, or something like that.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yannubuntu/boot-repair && sudo apt-get update
and
sudo apt-get install -y boot-repair && boot-repair
The output is:
http://paste.ubuntu.com/p/7BWGKNtvDS/
- After restarting I got a:
Security Boot Fail message, and black screen. - To solve this:

I pressed F2 with the Ubuntu USB in, and in the settings, I changed the Boot order to Windows.
Now Windows works fine.
But still no Ubuntu……..
I need Linux for a programming project, and this is tiring…
I recall dual booting on my desktop computer with no problem, and this is the 2nd time on a laptop I am having a hard time……
Any thought on what to do?
Thanks in advance, guys.
Really appreciate this forum.
