I use macrium but wanted to us secondary image of my system in case I need to recover from disaster.

I watched videos of both Aomei products in the title and wanted an opinion of which you think is the easiest ,safest way to recover from disaster.

If I am not mistaken he one key is within the pc and not an external drive so would be a problem if the PC crashed.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Sorry to bother - one key is for factory not imaging of the OS.

I am going with the backer upper.

One key is not just for factory restores, but it can do that too. It just depends on when you image the disk.

Backupper is free and geared more towards home users.

That said, you should have several backup layers to ensure you are safe. You need to remember "physical" security of your system and data. Having a backup image on an external disk is fine, but what happens if you house burns down, it blown away by a tornado, or a bad guy breaks into your home and steals your computer and your backup drive? What good is your backup then?

I use Macrium too. But I also regularly simply copy and paste my Documents folder to another computer. So if I have too, I can manually re-install Windows, Office and my other programs, and simply copy back years worth of my documents, photos, emails. etc.

I also keep a fairly current image "off-site" in my bank's safe deposit box. If you have a trusted friend, relative or neighbor, keeping a backup with them works too.

The point is have a back up plan and use it. So kudos to you for doing that. After that, it is finding a plan that works best for you.

I usually use Macrium and have two external drives. The idea of putting one safely incase is a sound one as I do visit back and forth.

I think I will try Aomei as a supplement but Macrium is my go to.

I can't wait for my new pc so I can make a VM to try things like this. After 2018 I will have it and it is on paper as we speak.

Thank you
