Hi there!
Well, I did the first 2 scans, it wouldn't let me do the one on ETrust…kept saying I had to have IE 4.0 or above (which I do). I don't have that mirka4e message popping up anymore when i get on the net (YAY..thanks)…when i do a search file on my computer, it still shows up twice though. Thanks for all your help :) Here's the new log:

This is an optional program to remove:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe

It is a legitamate program, but considered "spyware". I can see from your log you use AOL (so do I). I discovered last week that AOL had apparently installed this program on my machine (without my knowledge or consent). I quickly disposed of it and have not suffered any ill effects.

The best way to deal with View Manager would be to uninstall it via "Add/Remove Programs" in the control panel (if you decide to remove it). If you uninstall it, reboot afterwards to complete the process.

After fixing things, reboot in "safe" mode. Use the link in my signature to explain how if necessary.

Find and delete:

C:\Program Files\TV Media <– FOLDER

C:\WINDOWS\fash.exe <— file

C:\WINDOWS\specialoffers.exe <— file

Use windows explorer to find and delete this file (I can't tell where it is located from your log file):

mmfert2.exe <— file

Boot in normal mode and post a new log file.

From your post:

when i do a search file on my computer, it still shows up twice though.

I would like to know what files (if any after the last fixes) "show up". :)
Ok, after search:

MIRKA4E.EXE-1AC16FB7.pf found in Windows\Prefetch
Mirka43 application found in Windows\System32

(Maybe that's no big deal…heck, i don't know, haha)

I never could find that mmfert2.exe file to delete???

Thanks so much for all your time, how can you stand looking at all these logs all the time :)

Here's the new log:

Well… The log looks to be free of all malware.

I wouldn't be concerned about not finding that one file. Sometimes the malware seems to come and go almost as if by magic. It's not "running" on your machine. That's the main thing we want to keep from happening.

Two questions.

From your last post:

Ok, after search:

MIRKA4E.EXE-1AC16FB7.pf found in Windows\Prefetch
Mirka43 application found in Windows\System32

What program are you using to "search" with?

And do you know whay is says it found "Mirka43 application found in Windows\System32", but doesn't give us a name for the "application"?

P.S.

how can you stand looking at all these logs all the time

I musta' been a lumberjack in a previous life…..
Hello again, "Lumberjack", hahahaha, Nah, that was just me saying where it was found…i just searched files on the computer…Well, I'm glad to be good as new, and you're my favorite person today :) Thanks so much!
Here's my list of things to do to help prevent future infections. Other things recommended that are not on this list would be Spywareguard, and Spyware Blaster (I don't have the links for those)

GOD bless!!!

M68 :)

Items you may wish to consider to harden your defenses against future infections:

Read "How did I get infected in the first place?" here:

http://boards.cexx.org/viewtopic.php?t=957

Download IE-Spyad here:

https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/resource.htm

IE-Spyad puts over 4000 known malicious web sites into IE's "restricted zone" to help prevent you from getting infected.

Check your browser settings here:

http://browsercheck.qualys.com/index.php

A series of "tests" (and suggested fixes) to help tweak IE's settings to help prevent infections when surfing the web.

Follow safe Internet practices:

1. Keep your virus definitions up to date, and scan your system regularly.

2. Don't open email, or download attachments from unrecognized email addresses.

3. Be careful when downloading email attachments, EVEN FROM PEOPLE YOU KNOW! Many virii, worms, and trojans infect a persons system then immeadiately spread themselves to the people in the infected persons addressbook via email attachments.

4. Be careful downloading files from the Internet. Scan all downloaded files with a reliable UP-TO-DATE antivirus program. Scan "zip" files BEFORE unzipping, and scan all unzipped files BEFORE USING THEM.

5. Keep your Windows and IE current with all the latest patches and updates.

Hey, thanks for the advice :) I hate to have too many programs going on my computer, do you think I should get rid of Adaware and Spybot, and go with the others you mentioned??? Just curious, thanks!!!!
Oh no. Please leave Adaware and Spybot on your machine if at all possible. The other tools are for infection prevention. But if something should happen to slip by, you'll need Adaware, and Spybot to help eliminate it. I have them and update/run them at least once a weeek. If you "surf" alot, you should update/run them at least twice a week (or more). In "cyberspace" you just can't be too careful. M68 :)
