Ok, this is kind of weird so it would be appreciated if someone was able to help me understand this. I have done tech support in the past, too, so hopefully I'll understand and techie responses.
First, I use my phone as my internet connection for my PC or laptop. I typically connected it with the USB cable using EasyTether which works fine until this issue started (or more likely I wasn't doing this before). I connect to a VPS using RDP, or even another remote connection program and frequently get disconnected and quite often it will not refresh for up to 30 seconds before trying to reconnect. Rather annoying. I was having trouble connecting with USB to my laptop so I decided to try the Mobile Hotspot option on my phone and connected fine to the laptop and to my surprise, I rarely got disconnected from the VPS/RDP connection. So then I bought a wireless USB adapter for my PC and installed it and the same thing, I rarely get disconnected from the VPS/RDP, although the response time can be slow at times. So I'm wondering why I have more disconnect problems connecting my phone to the USB on the PC or laptop while connecting to the VPS, than I do using the WiFi connection? I tested the speed using Ookla and both USB and WiFi tested at 40+Mbps download, so that's not the issue.
Yes, it's a weird and unusual issue that most people won't have but I would love to find out if I can "fix" the USB issue so I don't get the constant disconnects.
Eventually I'll be able to get Broadband or FIOS again, but for now....
Thanks for any helpful replies.
Again, I can download fine, surf the web, etc., it's only with the RDP to VPS where I have this issue.
