Sometimes my laptop seems to be running with a few issues. Nothing serious just a bit slow loading pages, buffering  etc. If I close it down overnight and start up again the following day  everything seem to be rectified . Why is this?

Its difficult to say without the full information that we need to make an accurate diagnosis, however a memory issue could be responsible.

To help narrow things down let us have full details of your machine its operating system, level of service pack installed, method of internet connection etc

If you have tried the following then please advise the outcomes:

1 Booting into safe mode with networking

2 Booting into a live distro of Linux( puppy is good) and connecting to the net via Ethernet

If the issues go away at either step one or step 2 above (or both) then it will be diagnostically significant and allow one of us to advise the next steps.

Regards

Hi Paws. Thanks for your words of advice but my pc is fine at the moment so I will leave well enough alone. I was just curious as to how thses issues seem to rectify themselves by turning off the pc for a while the restarting.

issues like you described are usually/sometimes associated with what we call a memory leak.

this is when a program allocates itself memory to use but then doesn't free it back up again when it's finished using it. over time this will cause a pc to run low on memory and then slow everything up but when you restart the pc the memory is all cleared out on shutdown so on the restart it's fast as usual because it has all the memory available again.

and that's one reason why sometimes just restarting a pc will speed it up.
