The hard drive on my PC, although it works, was beginning to make strange noises.  I therefore cloned the hard drive onto another similar hard drive using EaseUS To Do.

However, now when I boot with the cloned drive, I get this message is displayed :

Reboot and Select Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key.

Currently, the Boot Priority on my PC is set as follows:

1st Boot                      UEFI : Windows Boot manager

2nd Boot                     CD/DVD : HL – DT

3rd Boot                      Hard Drive

4th Boot                      USB CD/DVD

5th Boot                      USB Hard Drive

7th Boot                      USB Key

8th Boot                      Network

If I then connect both the drives to my PC and choose to boot with my existing hard drive, it does not boot at all but a Recovery Page is displayed.  And, if I now disconnect the cloned hard drive, the existing hard drive works but not when it is connected together with clones hard  drive.   Where am I going wrong?  Can someone please assist?

Hi MikeSA,

I have come across this situation on several customer's machines when they have fitted a new SSD device and used a clone image from a "Spinner" hard drive to get it up and running again quickly.

The first customer had used Macrium Reflect to create the image and fortunately there is a repair facility on the Macrium boot disc, and using this solved the problem.

I don't know if the EaseUS has the same repair facility on its boot disc but if it has then maybe this will help you.

On the other two occasions a fresh install of Windows on to the SSD was done and this solved the problem as well.

Hope this helps

Regards
