I have a Dell Inspiron N7010 laptop. It was working fine but yesterday when I pushed the on button the screen just stayed black and it keeps beeping in like two's. Beep, beep then a slight pause then beep, beep again over and over. I don't know what is wrong. Could the battery being junk cause this? Please hlp me

Hi surabhi and welcome to our forum.

:welcome:

Sorry to hear about the problem with your computer.

1 The double beep sound (beep beep or Morse m) is the Dell beep code for  a problem with the computer's RAM.

2 A good first step would be to power off the laptop, remove the battery, remove the power cord and also any peripherals that may be connected, and then hold the "power on" button down for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds of holding it down the internal capacitors should be discharged, so now you can release the button.

3 Next check the RAM modules, and make sure they are correctly seated and the clips that hold them at the sides have clicked securely into place and the RAM module is not loose.... to reduce any oxidisation from the contacts remove the modules and then replace them, as that action is mildly abrasive in that it "scrapes" the contacts clean thereby improving the connection)

4 Now connect the battery and next the power cord and try a normal start by holding down the power button for just 2 seconds....

Let us know what happens when you do this.

Regards
