I was looking at that to and it showed it may be ok, but if you dont use it lets uninstall it, go to Programs and Features in the Control Panel and uninstall iResearch, let me know if you were successful

Hi Ken,

I have successfully uninstalled the °¬ÈðÒâ¼ûͨ from All Programs. I have also deleted iResearch folder from C: drive. My PC is running well and smooth now. The Pop Up problem appears to be cleared, probably along with other hidden issues.

I will like to express my deepest appreciation for your help in this matter. You are the most professional and impressive expert I have come across. I guess there is no fail-safe way to guard against virus or malware attack, one just need to be vigilant and careful. Anyway, your patient and resourcefulness have helped a PC owner in Singapore, 12-hour time zone different from USA, to over come a complex malware problem. I am amazed that there is such a group of people dedicated to help the IT world safer. Thumbs up to WTT.

My Best Regards,

Kiak, thank you for your kind words, it was my pleasure helping you. Work with all kinds of people all over the world, some are kind of challenging and cant follow instructions but this has not been the case here, you have been right on top of everything I have asked you to do   :)

Been at this for many many years, back to the days of Windows 98. Maybe this will explain why we do what we do

I wanted to add that just use one anti virus program as recommended by Microsoft, more than one is overkill and will hamper system performance

We used the free version of Malwarebytes in the cleaning process, the Pro Version has a protection module that will block access to known bad sites and downloads, the cost is minimal , I have it on all my systems including friends and family, but this of course is a suggestion and totally up to you.

Take care my friend

Ken :)

Hi Ken,

I have successfully cleaned up the disinfection tools on my desktop using Delfix. Only Malwarebytes trial version remains.

Thanks for your suggestion of using Malwarebytes. In fact the trial version has already alerted me several times about potential threats. Just not sure how Windows 10 will affect the Malwarebytes installation if I choose to upgrade to Premium version now.

KB

(I have decided to use KB1954 as my displayed name as it is easy for other to address me)

I met the President and a lot of the staff a few years ago while visiting family in California and and they were the nicest bunch of people I have ever met. There a class act and on top of all upgrades, I am sure that when Windows 10 is available that Malwarebytes will be just fine.  If and when you upgrade to Pro, be sure to keep your ID number and Key number in a safe place. store them on your computer and also print them and keep it safe, once you upgrade its yours, if one day you decide to sell this computer, just uninstall Malwarebytes, download and install it on your new one with your ID and Key and you will be back up and running again.

Its a great program, just turned my computer on about a half hour ago ( its 7 AM ) here, when I went into my yahoo mail there was one spam, when I went into my spam folder to remove it , Malwarebytes popped up and alerted me that the link in the spam was malicious, not that would open any spam anyway. Just so you know, some spam you may get, the people are fishing for a live email address, if you just delete it your fine, but most are coded, if you open it it alerts the sender that your email address is legit and you will just start getting more.

Take care my friend

Hi Ken,

Many thanks for providing me additional info on Malwarebytes. I understand you are also trying to avoid giving impression of overselling one particular antivirus/malware product. Having use the trial version, I am quite convinced that Malwarebytes Premium is worth a try. BTW, I have read a posting by Doug on Tools & Practices for Safe Computing. In it, he is proposing to install Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI). Just wish to check whether Malwarebytes will conflict with PSI.

My self I have never used it, i just keep the programs i use updated on my own, Secunia wont block threats or things like that, it just helps keep your security software up to date. I use Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes Pro and I keep them updated my self . I think it may scan your system and tell you if there are security flaws in some of your programs like Word, Excel , Adobe. Its free, give it a try and if you dont like it you can always uninstall it

FYI, the curiosity got me and I downloaded and ran Secunia on my Win 8.1 system, out of 60 programs it found one (VLC Media Player) was out of date and it updated it , nice

HI Ken,

I have also installed the PSI and scan result indicated all programs are ok except one: Microsoft XML Core Services (MSXML)4.x. After I click "to update", the Microsoft website for Core XML Services shows 4 different XMLs to choose from: msxml6.msi, msxml6_ia64.msi, msxml6_SDK.msi and msxml6_x64.msi. Which should I choose?
