Sorry Macaroni, I gave you “back-to-front” instructions. :oops:

The instructions should have been to run Eset and then FRST so that I could see if there was anything left.

Let’s get rid of a few things first.

Please copy all text in the code box below and paste it into Notepad:

@echo off
del /f /s /q "C:\MGtools\Process.exe”
del /f /s /q "C:\Program Files\shopperz”
del /f /s /q "C:\Users\Owner\Downloads\FirstRowSportApps_Setup71.exe”
del /f /s /q "C:\Users\Owner\Downloads\musicnotesSuite.exe”
del /f /s /q "C:\Users\Owner\Downloads\SoftonicDownloader_for_scratch(1).exe”
del /f /s /q "C:\Users\Owner\Downloads\SoftonicDownloader_for_scratch(2).exeӣ
del /f /s /q "C:\Users\Owner\Downloads\SoftonicDownloader_for_scratch(3).exe”
del /f /s /q "C:\Users\Owner\Downloads\SoftonicDownloader_for_scratch.exe”
del /f /s /q "C:\Users\Owner\Downloads\tuxpaint-0.9.21c-win32-installer-opencandy.exe”
del /f /s /q "C:\Windows\System32\lsdprn.exe”
del /f /s /q "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\lsdprn.exe”
del %0
  • save the Notepad file to your desktop and name it delfiles.bat
  • save type as "All Files"
  • on your desktop, double-click on delfiles.bat to run it, (a black CMD window will flash, then disappear - this is normal).

Now please run FRST again and send a new scan.

Did you run the Eset .bat file because some things are still here? We may not be quite finished here.

Open notepad. Please copy the contents of the code box below.

NOTE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system

  • save the files as fixlist.txt in the same folder as FRST – NOTE: It's important that both files, FRST and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work
  • run FRST64 then click Fix just once and wait
  • it will create a log (Fixlog.txt); please post it to your reply.

Run Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware

I noticed that you had MBAM on your system: if you no longer have it, you can download it from here:

  • start Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware and update it, (“Update” tab}
  • once it is updated, click on “Scan” tab, select Threat Scan, then click Scan.
  • when the scan is complete, if no malicious items are found you can close the program
  • if malicious items are found be sure that everything is checked and click Quarantine
  • when removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart your computer. (see Note below)
  • the log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.

NOTE: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

Logs to include with the next post:

Why didn't you check everything that Mbam found?

There's a file that is being difficult so we need a further look at it.

Submit a file to VirusTotal

Go to VirusTotal and submit this file for analysis:

C:\Windows\SysWOW64\lsdprn.exe

  • click on Browse
  • click on the arrow and choose Local Disc (C:)

    ChooseLocaldiscC.jpg

  • below, double-click on Windows
  • double-click on the SysWOW64 folder
  • scroll down and locate the file lsdprn.exe, click on it and then on Open
  • click on Send File
  • if you get a message saying File has already been analyzed, click Reanalyze file now.

You will get a report back; post the report into this thread for me to see.

Hi again,

should I redo the MBAM? I wasn't totally sure whether to quarantine everything highlighted or only the lines that were listed as outright threats.

Now I've searched the sysWOW64 folder repeatedly but failed to find the lsdprn.exe file.

Some other location?

should I redo the MBAM?

Yes please and check all that was found.

Please run SystemLook again.

  • double-click SystemLook.exe to run it.
  • copy the content of the following codebox into the main textfield - please make sure you include the colon, (:), at the beginning:

    :filefind
    *lsdprn*

    :folderfind
    *lsdprn*

    :Regfind
    lsdprn

  • click the Look button to start the scan.
  • when finished, a notepad window will open with the results of the scan. Please post this log in your next reply.

Note: The log can also be found on your Desktop entitled SystemLook.txt

Please can you post that with the Mbam log and tell me if there there any remaining problems?

Thanks

Satchfan

Looks good; just one bad to get rid of and we can clean up.

Run Tweaking.com Registry Backup

We are going to make some changes to the registry which can create unforeseen problems so you need to back it up first.

  • download the tool found here to your Desktop so it is easy to find
  • double click on the file you just downloaded to install it to your system
  • once the tool is installed, double-click on the Tweaking.com Registry Backup icon
    *Note:* The tool should automatically open to the Backup Registry tab.
  • press Backup Now
  • when the back up is complete, the tool will tell you that “Successful */* Files Backed Up”
  • you have now successfully backed up your Registry.

Next

  • copy the contents of the Code Box below to Notepad:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\lsdprn]
  • name the file fix.reg
  • change the Save as Type to All Files and save it to the desktop.
  • make sure there are NO blank lines before Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00, then double-click on the fix.reg file, and when it prompts to merge say Yes.

================================================

Run Security Check

Download Security Check by screen317 from here or here.

  • save it to your Desktop.
  • double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
  • a Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.

Let me know if all is still OK.

All still OK by the way but I haven't switched off the machine for a couple of days so no idea how it'll all go in that situation.

Do I understand it that the registry backup is held online?

No.

Well done. Your computer appears to be clean.

Now that you’re free from malware, as long as your computer seems to be running well, please follow these simple steps to tidy up you computer and decrease the likelihood of getting infected again:

Uninstall AdwCleaner

  • double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool
  • click on Uninstall
  • confirm with Yes.

You can delete all other logs and programs we’ve used that are on your desktop. Just click on them and press Delete.

===================================================

Download & run Delfix

  • download Delfix from here to remove many of the tools we've used during the cleaning process.
  • ensure “Remove disinfection tools” is checked.

Also place a checkmark next to:

o    Create registry backup
o    Purge system restore

  • click the Run button.

You can delete all other logs and programs we’ve used that are on your desktop. Just click on them and press Delete.

===================================================

Antivirus

You have no active antivirus on your computer. If you use the Internet without an antivirus your computer will certainly become infected again. It is also imperative that you update your Antivirus software at least once a week, (even more if you wish). If you do not update it, it will not be able to catch any of the new variants of malware that come out on a daily basis.

Do NOT install more than one or they will fight against each other and render both ineffective.

Here are some of the better AV products.

Download and install one of these free antivirus programs:

Free Avast Home Edition
Avira AntiVir® Personal Edition Classic
Microsoft Security Essentials

===================================================

Windows updates

I notice that Windows updates are waiting to be installed. Click here for information on how to get the latest Windows updates:

===================================================

Update installed programs

Your version of Adobe Reader is out-of-date and need to be removed and updated.

Having the latest updates ensures there are no security vulnerabilities in your system.

Uninstall the following program:

Adobe Reader 10.1.3

  • click Start, Control Panel, Programs and Features
  • click on Adobe Reader 10.1.3 and then Uninstall

NEXT

Visit Adobe and download the latest version of Acrobat Reader.

===================================================

Recommended programs

SpywareBlaster. SpywareBlaster protects against bad ActiveX, it immunizes your PC against them. It blocks over 11,000 bad sites and uses no resources of your computer.

===================================================

Update and run Malwarebytes. This really is an excellent program that you should also update and run on a regular basis, probably weekly.

===================================================

It’s important to keep programs up to date so that malware doesn't exploit any old security flaws.

FileHippo Update Checker is an extremely helpful program that will tell you which of your programs need to be updated.

===================================================

MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well known ad sites and other bad sites. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer, meaning it will be difficult to infect yourself in the future.

A couple of links with information here and here which can answer any questions you might have about installing/using it.

===================================================

Unchecky

Be careful when downloading free software. Many free programs come bundled with adware, many of which cause redirects/popups and verge on being malware. There is a program that automatically “unckecks” the boxes you may not notice when downloading programs.

Download and install Unchecky .

I also recommend that you read the following:
