Recovering files from Formatted Hard Drive

Once a hard drive is formatted, is it still possible to recover some or all the files?  What recovery program would be ideal?

That depends on the type of format you did. If it was a Quick format then the files are still there and a program like Recuva should be able to find most of them. If you did a normal, long format then no, you won't find them.
