"Sponsorship" virus/longfintuna [Solved]

Hello veramitude,

Let's try using the complete path to Combofix from the run box. (Don't miss the first " mark or it won't work)

Press the Windows key + R and this will open the Run text box. Copy/paste the following text into the Run box as shown and click OK.

"%userprofile%\desktop\combofix.exe" /Uninstall

Right-click AdwCleaner.exe and select Run As Administrator.

• Click on the Uninstall button.
• A window will open, press the Confirm button.
• AdwCleaner will uninstall now.

Download OTL to your desktop.
Using Internet Explorer - right click the link and click Save target as. Make sure the Save as box is set to Desktop and click Save.

Run OTL.exe

• Copy/paste the following text written inside of the code box into the Custom Scans/Fixes box located at the bottom of OTL.

  C:\combofix.exe /S
  c:\users\veramitude\Downloads\JRT.exe
  c:\users\veramitude\Downloads\SecurityCheck.exe
  c:\users\veramitude\Downloads\aswMBR.exe
  
  :Commands
  [emptytemp]
  [clearallrestorepoints]

• Close all other programs apart from OTL as this step may require a reboot
• Then click the Run Fix button at the top
• Let the program run unhindered.
• Say Yes to the prompt and then allow the program to reboot your computer.

Run the file on your Desktop named CF_UNINST.EXE again.
Right click it and click "Run as Adminstrator".

Let the tool run, it should remove combofix and all of it's components. Let us know how you make out.

Clean up with OTL:

• Double-click OTL.exe to start the program.
• Close all other programs apart from OTL as this step will require a reboot
• On the OTL main screen, press the CLEANUP button
• Say Yes to the prompt and then allow the program to reboot your computer.

If still there, delete combofix.exe and the log files our tools created; they are located at your desktop or at the "c:\users\veramitude\Downloads" folder.
Highlight them, and press the del or delete key on the keyboard.
You can browse to the location of the file or folder using either My Computer or Windows Explorer .

alright, that worked to uninstall combofix! thankyou! I am working on OTL now and have already uninstalled adware successfully.

ok adware, combofix, and otl are all uninstalled. I have the CF UNINSTALL program, JRT, Tweaking, and eset installer still downloaded. are they next?

Tweaking.com Registry Backup:
Open Programs and Features by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Programs, and then clicking Programs and Features.
Select the program you want to uninstall, and then click Uninstall.


CF UNINSTALL program, JRT and eset installer:
Highlight them, and press the del or delete key on the keyboard.
You can browse to the location of the file or folder using either My Computer or Windows Explorer.


Then all is done!

Thank you, Jo! Tweaking was not in my list of programs so I deleted is the same way I did JRT and CF uninstall on my downloads page, by highlighting and deleting. Thank you for your help!!
