I'm starting a new job as Digital Strategist and need to upgrade my devices-I have been considering a "phablet" vs buying a smart phone and a tablet. I decided on size and robust features from the Galaxy Note 2 phablet. Should I wait till later this year and get the GNote 3 or wait and get the GNote 2 after the new release and buy version 2 when the costs come down.

I don't know those devices, although I must admit I'm tempted to have a play with the S4, but no one can tell you what is best for you, there are many small things that could come into play for an individual that could sway the balance, that said I can offer pointers to help you make the choice you need. There are 2 different area's to consider, the biggest in the most literal sense of the meaning is size, and this has 2 variations, first off ask yourself if you can do what you need on x size screen, I know viewing web pages on my smart phone is a nightmare, then comes security and safety, where and how will you carry x size device, some are to big to put in a pocket, and those that go in a back pocket are easily stolen, especially in a crowded place, and if carrying it in your hand there will be times you need to put it down for a minute while doing something else, so can easily forgot in a rushed situation. Then there is the performance, will it have the power\speed\memory to do what you need, is the storage space enough, will it run the Ap's you need to use, another factor that most won't realise until it affects them is the screens visibility, basically are the viewing angle(s) what you need (possibly more applicable to older devises), and light, more so if using outside, just how visible is the screen in daylight, or possibly bright light, it doesn't matter how good the unit is if you can't see it to use. Another factor that may be really worth checking is connectivity, if you would use the device to show projections etc., if it has the right connection you could plug it straight into a large screen TV or similar to display what you want to others, as to the waiting or upgrading, there is always something newer bigger and better coming out, so simple rule of thumb, unless there is a big enough jump in spec that makes it really better than whatever you may have, then save your money until that happens, unless your rich in which case you probably wouldn't worry about that lol. Sorry I couldn't be more specific, but regardless of device the pointers above are valid for anything you look at, hope it helps.
