Long story short… I needed a free antivirus because ESET smart's free user activation code (was valid till 2015) disappeared off my computer and requested a new set of access code. After ESET dropped, I went with a friend's suggestion of AdvanceSystemCare Ultimate. It was free for some time, but eventually the trial ended and I couldn't figure out how to continue service without paying like he had. (he downgraded to ASC 6 from Ultimate, which is free) In my search, I found StopZilla was free. To my dismay, Stopzilla lead to install win7 antivirus on my computer and in turn it threw a malicious file called SASCORE.exe. This file embedded itself within C:\programFiles\SUPERAntispyware\SASCORE.exe…. I'm currently on my laptop, and I have windows 7 files from Dreamspark associated with school to completely reinstate a new operating system. When I try to boot from disc after running rkill and ASC6 full scan and malware bytes full scan in safe mode, nothing happens. SASCORE.exe still exists and cannot be deleted, moved or removed. I've already pulled the personals off my desktop computer (infected) and put it on my laptop(clean). Thursday I should be getting an ultrabook I would like to remote access my desktop with. If I could get some assistance either wiping and re-instating a new OS I would be extremely greatful. Hopefully the complete clean would make the process easier; but I do realize the virus must be removed. sometimes a re-install doesn't cut it. Thank you for your time, I will keep the site open tll this is resolved!
Hi KuPAFoo,

:welcome:

My name is Tomk. I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. Logs can take a while to research, so please be patient and I'd be grateful if you would note the following:

  • I will be working on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for the issues on this machine.
  • Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference.
  • If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to say or ask!! It's better to be sure and safe than sorry.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.

Firstly… SASCORE.exe is a legitimate file that is a component of SuperAntiSpyware. It is not a virus.

Secondly… I wouldn't have anything by IoBit (advanced system care) on my system. If you want a reputable, free antivirus the use Microsoft Security Essentials or AVAST!.

Thirdly… if you do a complete format and reinstall of the operating system… any virus will be gone. Your computer will be back to the way it was when it was first built. See here for a guide to formatting/re-installing, including backups and preparation:

This guide was written specifically for XP…. here is another guide written for Windows 7: http://kb.mit.edu/confluence/display/istco…an+Installation

And lastly - if you want to try to clean the system… I need some log to work with.
