My web browser has been high jacked and every time I go on line the new home page that appears is one called about blank. The only changes I have made to my home page were to change it from msm to google. I have used the highjackthis program to scan the log and found two lines that contained the words about blank. I deleted both these lines, shut down my p.c and then rebooted it only to find that my browser settings were still the same and when I scanned the log again I found both the lines containing about blank were still in the log. Any help you can give me in regaining control of my browser settings would be greatly appreciated. Welcome to the forum.

There's a new version of a program out that's suppose to fix this.
Here's the link to that info:
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/index.php?sh…ic=12609&st=150

I,ve never tried it because it's brand new, so if you want - here's how it goes:

Download AboutBuster from the link below:
http://malwarebytes.biz/AboutBuster.zip
Unzip it to a folder.
Open up the folder and run the AboutBuster.exe
It will produce a report that looks like this:

– Scan 1 ——–
About:Buster Version 1.30
Removed! : C:\WINDOWS\System32\hjpoi.dll
Attempted Clean Of Temp folder.
Removed LEGACY___NS_Service_3 Key
Pages Reset… Done!

If so, then you may have nailed it, if not - try the proceedure in safe mode.
If you are successful, reboot and with only HJT running fix these:

Reboot and see how it is, if you still have a problem, you'll have to wait for one of the experts to help you. Thanks MrC
Thanks for the help Mr. C I tried the new program as you suggested with the about buster in normal and safe mode. Unfortunately the problem still persists it was a nice try but no cigar. If you have any more suggestions on how to beat this problem they would be greatly appreciated …………… thanks again. Ps any idea how long it usually takes for an expert to look at the log ???????????
Hi guys - i miss google, could you do this for me. Click here to download FindnFix.exe (2K/XP only!) by freeatlast. Double-click on the FINDnFIX.exe and it will install a folder called FINDnFIX on your system. Go to that folder and double-click on !LOG!.bat. The program takes a few minutes to collect the necessary information. When done post the contents of Log.txt in this thread.

No hidden file. Could you click here to download CWShredder by Merijn Bellekom and run it, hit 'fix' as opposed to 'scan only'. If you already have CWShredder, click 'Check for update' and make sure you are running version 1.59.1 Reboot when done.

Click here to download Ad-Aware and install. Before scanning click on "check for updates now" to make sure you have the latest reference file. Then click the gear wheel at the top and check these options:

General> activate these: "Automatically save log-file" and "Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal"

Scanning > activate these: "Scan within archives", "Scan active processes", "Scan registry", "Deep scan registry", "Scan my IE Favorites for banned sites" and "Scan my Hosts file"

Tweaks > Scanning Engine> activate this: "Unload recognized processes during scanning."

Tweaks > Cleaning Engine: activate these: "Automatically try to unregister objects prior to deletion" and "Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."

Click "Proceed" to save your settings, then click "Start", make sure "Activate in-depth scan" is ticked green then scan your system. When the scan is finished, the screen will tell you if anything has been found, click "Next". The bad files will be listed, right click the pane and click "Select all objects" - this will put a check mark in the box at the side, click "Next" again and click "OK" at the prompt "# objects will be removed. Continue?".

Reboot when done. Rescan with HJT and post a new log here for a final check over.
