Hello, I can no longer browse web pages, nor will the anti-virus programs update. However, the computer can see the internet and resolve DNS names. There have been no obvious virus pop-ups, but I must have some sort of worm or trojan. Can you recommend where to start?

**In any case where you happen to be busy or unable to give us a reply, we would be grateful if you keep us informed in advance and we will be more than happy to wait. Failure to do so we will have your thread closed in THREE(3) days. :)

Not seeing any signs of malware interfering the connection.

I need you to open Notepad -> Click Format -> Make sure Word Wrap is unchecked

Let's remove one of your AV first. Let me know the result.

Multiple AntiVirus Running

I see you have more than one Anti-Virus program installed, ( AVG ) and ( Microsoft Security Essentials ).

While this may seem like greater protection, it can cause problems including slowdowns, system hangs or even crashes. This can happen if both AntiVirus applications attempt to access the same file at the same time. This may cause the applications to interfere with each other, or cause the system to lock up. It can also be a drain on system resources, making a machine run slower than it should.

Any antivirus program must be removed via add/remove program.
For any program that doesn't have an add/remove entry, you will have to do this:

Re-install the program -> Reboot -> Uninstall
Removed MSE
No change in issues

Looked at Network adapter; it is dual Ethernet/Wireless. Unplugged cable from computer to router, forcing it to go wireless.

We can browse now! :thumbup:

Ethernet adapter was 192.168.1.100, wireless was 1.101

Just going to shrug my shoulders for now and be happy we can browse, but to me it looks like an issue with some system file or something that deals with the ethernet connection?
That's what I planned to do. To check on your settings. :lol: I think there might be an IP conflict within your LAN network. Nevertheless, since you got your problem solved, do you still have any other issues?
