Below is the Logfile from HijackThis as requested.
Newly purchased Packard Bell Easynote TS running Windows 7.
I switched off the invasive short-term Norton trial and used Avast Free, Windows Firewall and Malwarebytes instead.
The problem started before I turned off Norton.
I use Mozilla Firefox rather than IE usually.
I have transferred a lot of stuff from my old laptop, but that's got a clean bill of health.
Any advice you can offer is extremely welcome.

Hello. I'm very sorry to have wasted your time. Thank you for your support. I have decided, as I only had the computer for two days and haven't added anything that's not backed up on the old laptop, to restore to factory settings and start again. I should have thought of this before. Sorry, Simon

**Be very wary with any security software that is advertised in popups or in other ways. They are not only usually of no use, but often have malware in them.
