I recently installed win7 on a new PC. It is 32 bit, because it was sold to me as 32bit. While installing I was not given a choice to select 32 or 64 bit.
Now I have been informed that each and every copy of Win 7 Ultimate is both 32 and 64 bit. I bought my copy via Internet in Holland.
What is the truth? Please.
Can I convert to 64 bit at will?

No. That is not true. If you buy the full "retail" version in a box, you get disks for both 32-bit and 64-bit - however the license allows you to only install one, or the other - not both.
When you buy OEM/System Builder software, you buy the version you want.
If you bought a legitimate version on-line, you would have had to specify which version you wanted to download. Just as they are separate disks, they are separate downloads.
I might suggest you contact Microsoft directly and see if they will work with you to switch.

Not sure what that means. PC hardware has been 64-bit ready for many years. It is the software industry that is only now just catching up.
Do you mean it had a previous version of Windows 32-bit already installed?
Digirati,
Thanks for the reply. All is well now,I do not really have a desire to change+ new software!!!!
Sold as 32 bit.
My bad. I was about win7 sold as 32 bit not the pc. I made it myself for the first time in my life after procastinating for over 2 years!
Thank you once again for the prompt reply.
