This message is for appleoddity - CatByte said you'd be looking for my post here. Here is the link back to the thread in the malware forum : http://forums.whatth...h...st&p=736355

I am getting hs_err_pid errors when playing java games in Pogo. It isn't usually more often than once a day. The game freezes for awhile and then that message appears on the desktop. There are several examples posted in the other thread and you can see what they have had me do so far.
Thanks for your help,
Sue

Just a thought, have you tried uninstalling Java, restarting and then re-installing the latest java? Cheers, Lee

Yes. I even used a program requested by catbyte in my malware thread (if you want to see what all I did, see the link in my previous post) that uninstalled java and then went looking for odds and end pieces as well. Now, to add to the mystery, I have gotten an hs_err_pid error message three times on my laptop also, and I have never had any problem with it at all before. Maybe this is a Pogo problem?? Just a thought. Thanks

I have now read of similar problem with Pogo / Java / XP on a few sites.

Do you have the latest Microsoft updates installed, especially SP2 and SP3?

Cheers,
Lee

Yes, Lee, I have everything installed as recommended by MS; I have automatic updates. However, the laptop (where I have now amassed 4 of those java errors) is a Vista platform. I'm going to have to assume that it's a pogo problem. I would have their techs take a crack at it, but all they would recommend last time I contacted them about a problem was that I install Google Chrome or Firefox. I do have Chrome on my desktop, but the flash doesn't work as well on it. Thanks

This does sound like a problem specific to Pogo (XP and Vista) and you are not the only one afflicted. I regret that I couldn't have been more helpful :( Cheers, Lee

The problem is almost certainly with Pogo programming.

See This Thread

The problem appears to have started after Java 6 Update 25 or 26.

Please see This Post with a possible resolution.

The other suggestion which will most likely solve the problem is to downgrade to Jave 6 Update 24 or older. I will not endorse that method, and instead the problem should be escalated with Pogo, or simply wait for them to fix it. Downgrading to older versions of Java will certainly increase your chance of being infected by a security flaw. I do not recommend that you install an older version of Java to fix this problem.
