hello there
I some times get an error message when i log on my account in my laptop
the error msg is ( Windows could not connect to the System Event Notifier Service service please consult your system administrator)
I remember searching the internet for a solution and i found a temporary solution which is
- Start computer in safe mode.
- logon on to administrator.
- Click the start button
- Search "cmd.exe"
- Select it and then "ctrl - shift - enter" to allow elevation request
- Type in - "netsh winsock reset" press enter
- Then Restart your computer
but when i tried this the problem will go for a while and repeat again some days later
is this a sign for malware infection?
The next time this problem occurs, please do the following:
Open a Command Prompt.
Type netsh winsock show catalog > winsock.txt & notepad winsock.txt and press Enter.
The will open a Notepad window with the existing Winsock entries in it.
Cope and paste that data in a reply here.
What would also help would be to do the netsh winsock reset then Type netsh winsock show catalog > winsock.txt & notepad winsock.txt and press Enter. That is for a working Winsock.
That way we can compare the two and perhaps figure out what is causing the problem.
For instance, on Win 7 Pro X64, my Winsock looks like this:

Okay, now we need to wait until the problem occurs then do the netsh winsock show catalog > winsock.txt again and post it so we can compare and see what's different.
You already have the info after dong the reset, so now we need ti recorded when the problem occurs. Do not do the rest then, just do the show part then post that info. Once we have both we maybe able to see what is causing the problem. No guarantee but since resetting it clears up the problem for awhile, there should be some differences we can key off of.
Make sense?
