So I"m kinda boned right now, My pc (I'm using a lap top right now) is infected, I can't run any virus detection\deletion software, can't go on the internet… I basically can't do anything. I can't do anything in safe mode either. The popups just pop up and tell me that (insert program here) is infected and I should purchase some spyware removal. I would love to download the software that was mentioned i the sticky post but I don't know how to transfer it to the infected computer. I'm a totaly noob when it comes to this kind of stuff so any help would be much appreciated, I don't want to have to pay 300 dollars to get it fixed professionally.
Hi, welcome to the WTT Forums. My username is Raktor, and I would be glad to help you with your malware issues. I'd be grateful if you would note the following:

  • Absence of symptoms does not always mean the computer is clean
  • Please do not run any scans or fixes without my direction.
  • Finally, stay with this topic until I give you the final 'All clear' post.

Do you have access to a USB stick?
On the working computer…
  • Please download Flash_Disinfector.exe by sUBs and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it and follow any prompts that may appear.
Note: Some security programs will flag Flash_Disinfector as being some sort of malware, you can safely ignore these warnings
  • The utility may ask you to insert your flash drive and/or other removable drives. Please do so and allow the utility to clean up those drives as well.
  • Wait until it has finished scanning and then exit the program.
  • Reboot your computer when done.

Download the following two programs on the working computer, and copy them onto the USB stick.
DDS
GMER (Randomly named file)

Plug the USB stick into the infected computer (whilst turned off), then turn it on and boot into safe mode.

Double click DDS to run it, it shall produce two logs, DDS.txt and Attach.txt - save both of these to the USB stick.
  • Double click the random GMER file executable. If asked to allow gmer.sys driver to load, please consent .
  • If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan…click on NO.
  • In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following …
    • Sections
    • IAT/EAT
    • Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
    • Show All (don't miss this one)
  • Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish.
  • Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "Gmer.txt" or it will save as a .log file which cannot be uploaded to your post.
  • Save this to your USB stick.

**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<— ROOKIT" entries

Move the USB stick back to the working computer, and post the three files. :)
