Hello babbagene

The scans I asked you to run are clean.

Great job getting those associations sorted out. Just out of interest, was it the .exe fix you ran?

I believe that we are almost done here but there are a couple of things that we should try and address:

First, you MBAM issues. Please try updating it and see what happens. If you are still unable to get it updated it may be necessary to uninstall the version you have and download the latest version that is available.

You can get MBAM from here

Once installed, update the program and see if you are able to get the latest definitions (MBAM is updated multiple times every day - the latest database version is presently 5876, so your updated database needs to be at least that). If you are still having problems with it, it may be better to ask the program experts over at the MBAM forum for additional guidance. You can find the forum here: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?act=idx

Next, your Java. For some reason, when you updated your Java, version 20 was installed. Version 24 is the latest version.

  • Please update your Java

    • Click on "Windows Orb" (bottom left hand corner of your screen), then on "Computer" and then on the "Uninstall or Change a Program" tab.
    • Uninstall any previous versions of Java that you find.
    • Reboot your computer.
    • Next, download the latest version of Java by clicking here
    • Scroll down the page until you reach "Java Platform Standard Edition".
    • Beneath this and to the right, you will see a red button marked "Download JRE".
    • Click the "Download JRE" button.
    • Select the platform (Windows, in your case), multi language.
    • Accept the license agreement and click on "Continue".
    • Scroll down and click on the file called jre-6u24-windows-i586-p.exe located under "Windows Offline Installation".
    • Save the file to your desktop.
    • Do not select Run.
    • Right click on the saved file (jre-6u24-windows-i586-p.exe) and select "Run as Administrator" to install the update.
    • Delete the downloaded installation file after completing the above procedure and reboot your system if not prompted to do so.

You logs look okay, so if you are no longer experiencing any problems we can clear away our tools:

  • Please Uninstall Combofix

    • Hold down the Windows key (has the Windows symbol on it) and press the "R" key.
    • A Run box will open.
    • Type combofix /uninstall in the run box and click "OK". Please note the space between the "x" and the "/Uninstall", it needs to be there.

  • Please perform the following cleanup procedure

    • Double click on the OTL.exe icon on your desktop to run the program. (Note: If you are running Vista/Windows 7, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
    • Once OTL has opened, click on the "CleanUp!" button.
    • Follow any prompts that you receive.

  • Removal of Tools

    • You no longer need exeHelper, rKill TDSSKiller or MBRCheck. Please delete them from your system.

Once you have completed the above steps you should be good to go! If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask.
