Hi Jimbo,

Look up at the toolbar File Home Insert , the little lock is right above insert

When I click on the lock this info you posted is basically what I am getting
http://www.404techsu...tion-is-locked/

So I got to ask did you try the instructions to possible fixes?

I did, I tried every possible configuration and it just went round and round, still preventing us from editing it

Hummmm Going have to think on this one. My only run to my locked files were due to them not being compatible with the newer version. Now your it's a good one: Possible causes to this problem: 1.The document is marked as final. -- You said you tried the fix and nadda 2.The document is protected.-- now if thats the case you have to know the password to unlock it 3.You are using a trial of Office 2007 and upgrading to 2010 and it expired before doing so.--- But you have said no to that 4.Office 2007 has not yet been activated.-- been using an older program just upgrading to a newer one. Now this could be as I said from the start compatibility problems or possible file corruption. This is all that I know that could do this, but this may be worth a shot, copy the file, find someone with office 2010 and see if they could open it and or find someone with an 07 and see if they could open it. Hi ken545:

I am new and just my zero cents:
  • The screenshot is of a template!
  • Have you tried using Save As before editing?
