Infested With Adware -- Hijackthis Log

I have an adware infestation that Adaware can't seem to completely remove. I'd appreciate greatly if someone would advise me on what to delete fix based on the log below.

Welcome to the forum.

Please move Hiajckthis to it's own folder C:\HJT for example. This will allow it to make backups in case of a problem.

This will take a few steps so lets get started.

Please do the following,

Step # 1

Please download and run CWShredder. Make sure that all browser windows are closed with the exception of Cwshredder and choose FIX.

Step #2

Please download and run Spybot Search & Destroy & Adaware, both can be found in my signature below. Then follow the instructions in the link below to run.

Step # 3


Please do an online scan, 2 would be better,

Panda http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/activescan.asp

Trend Micro http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

Make sure that you choose "fix" or "clean".


Reboot and post a new HiJackThis log.

You need to put Hijackthis into it's own folder C:\HJT for example. This will allow it to make backups and as it is a temp folder right now they could get lost.

Go to add/remove programs and remove these , MyWebSearch, zSearch, DealHelper, WinTools, SpyKiller. You may not be able to see them all thats ok. Also delete any other programs that you did not install.

Run Hiajckthis again and put a check beside these lines and choose FIX.

Did as you suggested. I couldn't remove Dealhelper – a pop up came up saying it couldn't be uninstalled unless I removed all of its sponsored software. (Yeah, right.) Let me know how things are looking now.

Log looks GOOD! :thumbup: In my signature below are some tools that will help stop this from happening again. Spyguard, Spyblater and IESPYad will add 1000's of sites to your restricted zone and in some cases block hijacks. They take very little resources. I also have a tutorial on how to better secure IE that is a good read and very helpful to stop hijacks also. Safe surfing :D
