PS Edit: I really do think you need some hands-on tech. experienced help. The problem you are convinced it is, has happened on 2 HDD's and with both XP and W7 (?).
It's a .iso file you can create a bootable CD from. It's about a third of the way down the page, right below the Binary diskette image for non-Windows OS (1,440 K)
You don't burn the .iso to CD, you use it as input to your burner software to create a bootable CD with. ImgBurn is a good free program to do this with.

OK so how? i donload it its on my destop along with the .iso
i opened it use imgburn
oh carp** i think i have to reinstall the writer to the laptop
carrection the laptop dosent have a CD writer
heading out to get the file form my dad i hope this fixes it if not am just going to either
1 strip it and sale it for parts and buy a new pc

its gone anyway i had already wiped it about 30 times trying to get xp in it alone so yeah
i finshed burning it and am back at gandma's. Am runing it now. i done did the quick sacn and long scan (may be called something else) am running a excrsies i think.
but the frist time i did it it said 0x00 or something scan was compeleted and passed to sum it up. if you like ill re-run it and tell you guys what it says but after the excrsies finshs am going to install xp or try to
