Hello,I did a system build. Asus MB M4A78T-E with AMD Phenom II 965 Black Edition and Cooler Master GX 750 PSU. I followed the connections very carefully. When I boot up, all I get is the green SB light on the motherboard and absolutely nothing else! I am a bit frustrated right now! Any help would be greatly appreciated please. Thanks
Hi, sorry to hear of the problems with your machine.
1 Is this the motherboard you are using? http://www.microdirect.co.uk/home/product/…e-790gx-amd-am3
2 Have you checked and double checked that the mobo is fitted to the case correctly?…no shorting out?, all standoffs fitted or not fitted as required?
3 Did you take all the correct ESD precautions?
4 Did you get the correct RAM?……. fitted correctly?..double check…
5 Check you have the correct CPU…… and its.fitting … all seated correctly…thermal grease/pad OK? heat sink and fan operating OK?
6 Check again that you have connected everything correctly…check each connection especially the power on switches/connectors..if you have made a mistake then a cursory recheck will almost certainly not find the error…disconnect everything and start again! Always use the manual, dont guess…..some folks work on the basis that if the wires reach a connector then it must be right…. it's not so! (disconnecting everything and starting again may seem to be a "long" way of doing things but its actually quicker!)
7 Make sure your BIOS settings are correct…. if you cant get into the BIOS then recheck all of the above
next
8 If you are an experienced builder then check the PSU output make sure its delivering its rated outputs…..( load it if you can, but you could always try it in another machine if you don't have a good quality PSU tester….. next try a MOBO tester, ascertain the error code and look it up on your MOBO testers chart (note you MUST use the chart that came with your MOBO tester…. (they differ widely!)
9 If you are not an experienced builder then get a chum who is experienced to take a look at it (but do make sure that she/he is really experienced….. (they should have built hundreds of them to be called experienced, not just half a dozen or so!……) if still no joy, then its worth taking it all in to your local competent computer technician for advice but do get a fixed price quotation for the cost first…… if you take this route be prepared to pay at least as much for advice as the total cost of all the components you bought!
Regards and good luck
