Looks Good!! ;)

Now if it only stays that way, I have never seen this entry before.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,HomeOldSP = www.msn.com

You started out with one problem, then it changed into another.

Well use the computer and let me know how it is.

I would clean out all the temp stuff on the machine also.

Clean up the system also (this is for 98 and ME but should be close for XP)

Open up IE, from the drop down menu choose Tools, Internet Options, Delete Temporary Internet Files and cookies. (cookies optional)
Go to Start, Run, type temp , delete all the files in that folder
Do the same for recent
Delete all the .tmp and .chk files you can find. To do so, click Start/Find and in the search box (field) type *.tmp and this will search for all your temporary files. Repeat for chk files by typing *.chk in the search field, make sure you are looking in 'C'. Empty recycle bin.

MrC
It's back. In the browser window the address says "about:blank" and I'm at some other search page. I did a scan with Spyblocs and it found 2 spyware - "doubleclick" and "BDE" but it won't fix it unless I buy the rest of the package. I also ran SpyKiller and it found "favoriteman", webroot software" and "doubleclick"
Spyblocs and Spykiller aren't recommended program, you MUST get them off your system, check the link, uninstall them.

Now use AdAware:

Please download and run AD-Aware, here's how.

First thing to do is click on "Check For Updates Now", download the lastest updates.

Then:

- Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Scanning Engine:
check: "Unload recognized processes during scanning."

Scanning > activate these: "Scan within archives", "Scan active processes", "Scan registry", "Deep scan registry", "Scan my IE Favorites for banned sites" and "Scan my Hosts file"

Tweaks > Cleaning Engine: activate these: "Automatically try to unregister objects prior to deletion" and "Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."

Press "Scan Now"

- Check option "Use Custom scanning options"
- Check option "Activate In-Depth Scan"
- Press "Select drives\folders to scan"
- Select the active partition which is usually C:

Now press "Next" to let Ad-aware scan your drives…
It will find a number of "bad" files and registry keys. Click 'Next' again
Right-click in that pane and choose "select all"

If it finds "bad" files and registry keys, press "Next" again
It will ask you whether you'd like to remove all checked items. Click OK.

Also:
Download to and run from your desktop CW-Shredder, hit the FIX button and let it run and fix what it finds. Make sure you have all browser windows closed.

Reboot and post a fresh log back here for review. MrC

Hi guys - do you mind if I try something.

Click here to download and install Registrar Lite. Install, run, copy and paste this line to reglite's address bar:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\\AppInit_DLLs

and hit the "go" tab. Find: "Appinit_Dlls" value on the right side panel, DoubleClick, copy and post here the information in the 'Value' field.

Click here or here to download FindnFix.exe (2K/XP only!) by freeatlast. Double-click on the FINDnFIX.exe and it will install a folder called FINDnFIX on your system. Go to that folder and double-click on !LOG!.bat. The program takes a few minutes to collect the necessary information. When done post the contents of Log.txt in this thread.
After install reglite this is in value field - "C:\WINDOWS\System32\kbdh.dll" findnfix log is below »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»*** freeatlast100.100free.com ***»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] »»»IE build and last SP(s) 6.0.2800.1106 SP1-Q837009-Q832894-Q831167 The type of the file system is NTFS.
