Click on the link I gave you then click on Downloads. Expand Chipset. Download the first one shown (the one I referred to). See if that will install.
when i had clicked that link yesterday it showed asus products, but i did find the download. anyhow i clicked your link today downloaded as instructed and it turns out that it is the same file (name etc). i figured i do it again though and still no difference. i found the chip set driver installed etc and nothing
I found the Intel 955X Chipset driver on the Intel web site. Download and give it a try, see if it resolves the display adapter problem.

Otherwise, buy a good PCI-E video card and install it then this problem will be gone for sure.
ok it still says "input signal out of range change settings to 1280x1024 60hz". why is it that when i was running vista ult there wasnt any problem?
do you think the proper driver isnt available for the win 7 ult? also being that its most likely the incorrect driver is installed do you think that it would make a difference with a new video card would there still be a problem? or is it that because the video card would have different drivers it would work properly?
ok, but x64? mine is a 32. i was thinking because at the moment i really cant get a video card, in my old pc, the 1 we worked on there is a nvidea 6100 gpu, would i be able to put that in the new pc or is tha also some sort of intergrated graphics card? if not i could just do a system restore back to vista right?
Nvidea 6100 is an integrated chipset so you can't move it.

As for reverting to Vista, no , you can't do a System Restore. Did you upgrade Vista to Win 7 or did you do a clean install (formatting the hard drive). If you did an upgrade there should be a Windows.old folder on your boot drive. You can use it to go back to Vista but you need a Vista install DVD to do it, see here:

How to restore a computer to a previous Windows installation after you install Windows Vista
i upgraded to win 7. i couldve swore that it created a restore point, or at least i did just in case the 7 didnt work out. i have recovery discs that the seller made. i believe, becease the program nova backup (?) or something like that was used because its on the pc
I think you're only choice then is the recovery discs unless there is a way to access NovaBack and restore Vista from there … or, stay with Windows 7 at the current resolution and color depth until you can add a new Video card.
Card 1. Does not support W7, only Vista and XP. Card 2. No TV out if that is important. It will run on W7 as there is a Nvidia 6/7/8/9 GT series driver for W7. but if your daughter wants to use her PC for any gaming the screen resolution will have to be kept low. For modern games (later than 2007) it would really be struggling at any res. above 1024x768. Best would be 800x600. Excluding modern gaming and TV out, this would be a decent card for the price. Card 3. A more powerful version of the card above. No problems with W7 and better for gaming. Not great, but better. Price is not good compared to Card 4 price. Card 4. This is a good card. Factory overclocked and at $54 It's twice as good as cards 1 and 2 and a bit better than card 3. No problems with W7. I'd jump at this card for the price. Gaming or no gaming. Cheers, Lee
