Upon startup a black page comes up after attempting to boot with the message: PXE-E53 No boot filename received and exits the boot agent. Ran System Recovery Disc and the problem remained. Computer won't open in safemode. Gateway Desktop Windows XP Thank you in advance for any advice.
Just going to add my input to this, but not that much of an expert in networking, but that sounds like your trying to boot from a network drive (main server). Anyone else want to add to this?
Yep I reckon thats about the size of it…. The solution may be to go into the BIOS (may be found under "advanced settings" on some BIOS versions.) and set the boot priority to first, Hard drive 0 second as CD/DVD and the rest are more or less optional, save the settings on exiting the BIOS and the machine should reboot. To enter the BIOS on most Gateways, make sure your machine is fully closed down (powered off) wait 30 seconds with a blank black screen and then immediately after pressing the "power on" button start to tap the F1 key once per second the machine will enter the BIOS (sometimes called set up)…..on some Gateways the correct key to enter the BIOS is F2 Regards paws
