I have a Dell Inspiron 530 PC with Windows XP Home 2002/SP3 operating system. Although I have IE 7.0, I use Mozilla Foxfire explorer. My 14 year old nephew jumped on my PC Tuesday evening and said he was looking for games. Next thing I know, my Malwarebyte found "rogue Antivirus Suite" and my Avast found (A) JS Downloader-XB (Trj), (B) Win32: Adware-gen (Adw), and ยฉ JS: FakeWarn-C(Trj). Now my speakers don't work, I can't attach anything on my Yahoo mail account and Internet Explorer doesn't work at all. I read some of the other post on your site and tried to be proactive by downloading OTL, GMER, and exeHelper for DDS; those scan result files are attached for your review. I also ran HijackThis but your site says it won't let me attach that kind of file. I've rerun full scans for Malwarebyte and Avast but it's not finding anything new. My PC has been working like a dream, fast and responsive, until Tuesday and now I can barely keep Foxfire alive. Help!
Hello Irritated and welcome to WhatTheTech. Iโll be happy to look over your logs and help you with your issues. Please follow these guidelines:
Malware removal is a sometimes lengthy and tedious process. Please stick with the thread until Iโve given you the โAll clear.โ Absence of symptoms does not mean your machine is clean!

VERY IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop
* IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here
Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply. Notes:
1. Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. Do not "re-run" Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
๐ผClick to load external image (Posted Image)P2P - I see you have P2P software (uTorrent & Limewire) installed on your machine. We are not here to pass judgment on file-sharing as a concept. However, we will warn you that engaging in this activity and having this kind of software installed on your machine will always make you more susceptible to malware infections. Malware authors use P2P filesharing as a major conduit to spread their wares. I would strongly recommend that you uninstall these now. You can do so via Control Panel >> Add or Remove Programs. If you choose to keep these applications, please do not use them until our fixes at WTT are complete.
