Please help. I believe I have the WIN32:VUNDO-IV VIRUS on my computer. My first Avast virus software scan, it showed this virus -I wrongly chose to delete it rather than fix and move it to the chest that holds viruses. I know now that this was the wrong thing to do. I now cannot delete emails from my yahoo.mail account - each time I do and close out my yahoo mail and reopen another time, those emails are still there as well as if I try to do anything else other than delete them, I get a box stating they are being "copied" and I cannot do anything with them. I had been playing off the website from the play online (not download) Pop Cap /Bejeweled game over past few weeks and think possibly this is were I might have gotten infected. Like all else I've read from others who have had this virus, my programs and system is slow to operate and several pop-ups appear even though I have my pop-ups turn control turned on which should be preventing them. I am also worried about my security information wondering if I should call my bank and notify them of such tomorrow since today they are closed for Memorial Day. I would sincerely appreciate your help in any way to resolve this virus off my computer. Below is the scan I did today as your site requested. I am running WIndows XP on my computer. Thanks! Hello proffemale45 and :welcome:

My name is JonTom.

  • Malware Logs can sometimes take a lot of time to research and interpret.
  • Please be patient while I try to assist with your problem. If at any time you do not understand what is required, please ask for further explanation.
  • Please note that there is no "Quick Fix" to modern malware infections and we may need to use several different approaches to get your system clean.
  • Read every reply you receive carefully and thoroughly before carrying out the instructions. You may also find it helpful to print out the instructions you receive, as in some instances you may have to disconnect your computer from the Internet.
  • PLEASE NOTE: If you do not reply after 5 days your thread will be closed.

  • Please be aware that I am still in training, and all of my replies to you will be checked for accuracy by one of our experts to ensure that I am giving you the best possible advice.
  • This may cause a delay in response time, but I will do my best to keep it as short as possible.
  • I will reply back shortly with instructions.
Hello proffemale45

When you ran DDS, two logs should have been created, DDS.txt and attach.txt. Was the attach.txt log created? If so, please include it in your next reply.

I am also worried about my security information

The log you posted appears to be free of backdoor trojans. However, at such an early stage of analysis we can never be 100% certain. If you are worried about your personal information being compromised, I would advise you to change all of your passwords (for internet banking etc), using a clean (Uninfected) machine.

  • Combofix

  • Download ComboFix from one of the following locations:

    Link 1
    Link 2

  • VERY IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here .
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
  • Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

[external image: Posted Image]

  • Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

[external image: Posted Image]

  • Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.
  • Notes: Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
  • Do not "re-run" Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
proffemale45, This thread was replied to by Jontom and you went and started a new thread, please don't do that as we are all volunteers and cannot afford to have more than one helper assisting you.
