Today daughter used my PC and afterwards was getting an error my e:/ drive was corrupted and needed to run check disk,, I am a tech support rep and never seen this type of error, seemed out of place. Ran Avira scan and came up with several instances of JAVA/Agent.F.1 virus and it quarantined it. Wanted to show some log files to ensure it is gone.
Thanks in advance

Please do not uninstall/install any programs unless asked to
It is more difficult when files/programs are appearing in/disappearing from the logs.
Please do not run any scans other than those requested
Please follow all instructions in the order posted
All logs/reports, etc.. must be posted in Notepad. Please ensure that word wrap is unchecked. In notepad click format, uncheck word wrap if it is checked.
Do not attach any logs/reports, etc.. unless specifically requested to do so.
If you have problems with or do not understand the instructions, Please ask before continuing.
Please stay with this thread until given the All Clear. A absence of symptoms does not mean a clean machine.
It looks like Avira detected some exploits in the very old vulnerable java you have installed.
Are you experiencing any symptoms such as popups or browser/search redirects?
Click your start button, click Control panel > Add/remove programs and uninstall
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_19
Do not uninstall Java™ 6 Update 18
Still in control panel
Locate the Java icon (it looks like a coffee cup)
double click it to open it
click the Update tab
Click update now
After the java is updated, reboot your computer if not prompted to.
Next, clear the java cache
To clear the Java Plug-in cache:
Click Start > Control Panel.
Double-click the Java icon in the control panel.
On the General tab, Click Settings under Temporary Internet Files.
On the Temporary Files Settings screen, Click Delete Files.
check all boxes
Click OK
You have this program installed, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBAM). Please update it and run a scan.
Open MBAM
Click the Update tab
Click Check for Updates
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
The program will close to update and reopen.
Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Full Scan",
Check all drives then click Scan.
The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.
Hi thanks for your help!
I removed Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_19, updated the Java from control panel & cleared the cache, rebooted my computer
upon re-boot I got a similar bubble warning from the icon tray as before except this time it said new hardware found HDf ollowed by sevral more numbers/leters and $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ the system tray icon was a yellow triangle w/ "!" I then ran Malwarebytes (updated) full system scan, here is the log:

5/25/2010 1:20:12 AM, error: atapi [5] - A parity error was detected on \Device\Ide\IdePort0.
5/24/2010 9:54:02 PM, error: Disk [11] - The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk1\D.
These 2 errors would indicate the possibility of a harddrive starting to fail and/or the drive controller on the motherboard. It may also be something as simple as a loose cable.
5/28/2010 9:44:45 AM, error: PlugPlayManager [12] - The device 'HDS728080PLAT20' (IDE\DiskHDS728080PLAT20_________________________PF2OA21B\5&35ad820c&0&0.1.0) disappeared from the system without first being prepared for removal.
This error combined with the fact that Windows has found a new harddrive may support the loose/defective cable theory.
5/28/2010 4:59:30 PM, error: Ntfs [55] - The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. Please run the chkdsk utility on the volume E:.
This too would indicate a problem with the harddrive.
I suggest you start a thread in the General Hardware Forum. . The Techs there would be better at giving guidance as to troubleshooting and a solution than I would be able to.
Please include a link to this thread when you post in the hardware forum so they can access the information you have provided here.
