Daemon,

I think about:blank is still lurking about! I imagine that I should get rid of the R0 entry, but I will wait for your thoughts!

Daemon,

I think we did it! I have to admit, I hated fighting this thing. But, I learned alot about my PC. I am a converted MAC user who until this incident, could not navigate with certainty around my 2-year old Dell. I just signed-up for high speed internet after having dial-up for 12 years and only needed Norton Antivirus to protect me. Nobody told me that I should have firewalls and Spyware blockers BEFORE going to high speed! Less than 1 week on high-speed and I was fried!Broadband Companies should have more responsibilities to get the word out that you are vulnerable immediately upon entering into Broadband.

Now, I have purchased ZoneAlarm Pro 5.0 firewall plus pop-up stopper for $40 and recently bought Spyhunter 1.5.81 for $30. I also downloader a bunch of freeware thanks to info from this support site:

Ad Aware 6.0
hijackthis 1.98.0
registry mechanic 3.0 - my computer does run faster again!
cw shredder 1.59.1
spyware blaster 3.1.0
spy bots 1.3
browser hijack blaster
findn'fix
registar lite
xphidden (file finder)

Spy bots still shows a "DSO exploit" of 5 items. They all say:

HKEY_USERS/S-1-5-18/software/microsoft/windows/current version/internet settings/zones/0/1004!=W=3

the 4 others are the same except 18 is replaced by 19, 20, 21 and the last says"DEFAULT" instead of "s-1-5-18"

Thank you for all of your expertise. You and your other forum gods are an incredible help in a world where it is difficult to find someone to come to the rescue. Please keep up the great work even when it must be so tedious. i WILL BE MAKING A DONATION TO THIS GREAT FORUM!

Otherwise, here is my last HJT log

Thanks again

Jazzer

In addition to that arsenal of tools, have a look Tony's article here.
