Hi Raam,
We can leave this thread open for you. Make sure the disk you get is an XP disk not an OEM Recovery disk.
Raam
Hi,
Thank you. My friend is getting me that disk; I hope to have it by this week.
Meanwhile I was giving some thought to what if the disk does not help either; since I do not have internet connection as well on the computer, how can I run to check if windows7 upgrade can be done on this system?
Raam.

http://www.teknobites.com/2009/05/08/check…pgrade-advisor/If you are running Windows XP then you need to do a clean install of Windows 7.
Windows 7 doesn’t demand resources like Vista does, so a system with IGB of RAM will do with enough hard drive space.
These are the official requirements for running Windows 7 if you don’t want to install this advisor.
1 GHz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
1GB RAM (32-bit) / 2GB RAM (64-bit)
16GB available disk space (32-bit) / 20GB (64-bit)
DirectX® 9 graphics processor with WDDM (Windows Display Driver Model) 1.0 or higher driver
