Hi

First of all - sorry for my English. I hope that you will understand my problem and help me…

I have Dell GX280. The problem appears when I changed the CPU Fan on my computer. After doing this I got message - CPU fan filure, Press F1 to continue or F2 to got BIOS setup (or similiar to this one)

I have disabled the "Keebord reporting errors" and it is still the same… I found this topic:
http://forums.whatthetech.com/Need_Help_pr…_up_t91460.html

and it is said that:
"Ground the tachometer wire by connecting the White-Yellow(Tachometer) wires to the Black-Black(Ground) wires on the terminal connector block. This will disable CPU fan speed sensing so the system will no longer warn of a fan failure and no longer display the "Alert! Previous fan failure" message - this will now only appear if the fan connector becomes disconnected from the fan header on the motherboard"

My question is:
How should I do this?

Should I cut the wires from the fan and put only the connector to the motherboard and short ciruict the wires from it (white and black)? Do I understand this correctly? And if yes - should this stay on the motherbord or should I remove this after doing this? Should I do this while computer is on, or maybe should I do this when computer is off?

My CPU fan looks like this one below:

By cutting the wires I mean:

and do the short circuit I mean:

Looking forward to hearing from you….

Please help me as I have no other idea how to do this…..

best regards
przemas

Yes, that looks accurate. But, test it first by using a small jumper wire to connect the two pins. Then you can make the modification permanent. Further information was provided in your other post.
Thank you for your reply appleoddity. One more thing - is this everything save? I mean - nothing should happend if this will not work, yes? Just to let you know… I did this and guess what… I didn't work for me… Now I am totally confused and don't know what to do with this… Maybe this shouldn't be white and black but blue and black??? what do you think about this? why nothing is helping and why dell did something like this (you don't need to answare on the last question :) ) only pluggin in the oryginal fan gave no errors… but the oryginal one is very noicy and I don't want to have this one in my PC…
