Hi all, I am smarter then most when it comes to working on computers but I have more expierance in networing. Up untill recently I have avoided Vista like the pleg. Normaly I would blow it away first thing and put XP on. I dont have that option being in Iraq. But any who… I am very new to vista. Sense day one, right out of the box i have had issues with it freezing and IE not responding. I am just curius as to why under Comp. Mngr. , Sys Tool, Sharde folders, Shares are 3 hiden shares…. ADMIN$, C$, and IPC$… Is that normal. This is a personal computer. I did surch your site and found nothing specific. Thanks in advance, Matt

Hi MattInIraq, I've just had a quick look at your screenshot and compared it with the shares that are running on my computer (it was re-installed yesterday) and these appear to be the default shares that windows creates. the C$ share is for you to access your C:\ drive from another computer after supplying the correct log-in details. i'm not sure about the Admin$ and IPC$ shares as i've never used them before, but be reassured that these are the default shares on windows and are nothing to worry about. In answer to your thread title question - Yes, This is normal Regards Duey
