Uncheck : "automatically run Messenger when I log on to windows"
Open WinAmp
Go to Preferences > Setup > Agent
uncheck: "Enable Winamp agent".

Thank you so much again, and I am definitely going to try the Microsoft Security Essentials and WOT!
Since I have rebooted the machine, it is back to it's normal speed…I will run that MBAM now and then from now on too.
What the tech was recommended to me by a friend, and it has certainly proven to be the best "no nonsense" help site ever!
