Hi guys, Thanks for all previous coments and advice, I have now had chance to check inside and yes I have a bulging capasitor so looks like a new motherboard. Can someone please tell me which replacement board will fit, ATX or ATX micro, as I cannot get any info from Dell. Thanks again guys tuxedo
Tuxedo, On the outside of your Dell Gx270, you should see a transparent sticker with "Service Tag" number. Go to www.Dell.com You do not have to register an account with them by creating a username and password at Dell, but it can help for future reference, since your service tags and computers will be more readily available when you log into Dell Support. Enter your Service Tag number in the search box in Home User - Support - Technical Support This will give you access to your exact machine as it was originally configured. In the left-hand column of Support Options, under Product Support, Select "Manuals" - click "Get Manual" In the Contents of Manual you can browse to "technical Overview" Since this is an "older" machine, Dell may not have a replacement motherboard available, and may not have exact identifying information in their Technical Overview. But it is a place to start.
