I've been having issues with Windows XP for several weeks now. I use Firefox as a browser and have Trend Micro house call for anti virus and Super Anti Spyware for spyware. SAS shows nothing when I scan but trend micro shows TROJ_Generic.DIT. I can't find any information on this and don't really know if I should get rid or it or not. Firefox crashes all the time now, as does my taskbar, My Computer, etc. If I try to restart, I get the message "disk read error" and it will not reboot. Only if I turn it off from the back, leave it off for about 20 secs then turn it on from the button on the front, will it reboot. It has also been hanging when it gets to the blue windows screen now saying it is trying to start RPCSS. It takes up to 20 minutes to get to the logon screen. I'm not feeling especially trustfull of Trend Micro at the moment, as I have not been able to find any solution to it, yet it seems many people using this program also keep having the same problem. It shows as being in the Temp folders and that it is a "low risk". This program also detected "cmdow.exe" as Adware, but when I researched it, it looks like it is part of windows and shouldn't be taken off. Can anyone help me with this?
