Every time I start my computer, this pops up:

"Please insert your CDROM with the Virtual Truck program. Looking for file:

D:\installs\NSETH\En_OS\VTruck2.exe"

There was another post about this which I found because it was the only result on google (yikes), but I didn't really understand what to do.
I'm 'technically challenged', but I managed to at least download the HijackThis program and save the logfile.
It says I should show it to someone who knows what to do, but I don't know anyone really that computer savvy
and before I just start deleting things I thought I'd post here for advice with the next step.

I'd really appreciate it if it could be explained to me in an idiot-proof way, since I know NOTHING
about fixing computers, I don't even know if this logfile is of any use.

To start with posting a Hijack log needs to be done in the Infections section, I would of asked for this to be moved over for you, but after looking through the log I saw nothing to worry about, although I am in no way qualified to read these logs, nothing jumped out at me, also I think there is a newer Hijack out, although the guys here are not using Hijack as much as they used to.

Now having searched about this I don't believe your infected, it appears there are a few legitimate ways this could be there, some say a Truckers disk for music (but not many), but the most likely cause is your isp, I have seen Road Runner Internet NTL and AOL mentioned as being possible causes, as they use a related component during the install, so does this sound like what may of happened here ?
As to removing that annoyance there are a couple of ways suggested, if your using Road Runner Internet then ask them to give you a call back to resolve this issue, failing that get and install WinPatrol, fantastic free program that gives control over start up programs as well as other protection for your system, once installed launch it, then click on the start up tab, look down the list for any sign of this program, then highlight and remove it should you find it, see how you go with these thoughts and report back.

A friend of mine downloaded AOL onto my computer once so she could use AIM messaging.. but I removed it from my computer via Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs .. not sure if this is significant. As for Road Runner I've never heard of it before.

As for WinPartrol, I'll try it.
It worked! Thanks :) Question though - it says its stopped from popping up when I startup my computer, but the program is still on my harddrive. Do you think it could be considered harmful? Or is it just an annoying popup? I'm glad it's fixed, but I'm confused about what it was in the first place.
That may well be how it got there, add\remove doesn't always clear out all the residual crud, WinPatrol has 2 versions, the free version is more than enough for most users, the paid version just gives you deeper info on things, but it is the safest way to check and manage start up items, hopefully it will be enough, failing that it may be worth trying Revo Uninstaller, see if that lists any remnants, if it does you can remove them using that, see how you go.

*edit
Just saw your reply, great news, it should be safe given what we know, it's just an annoyance, but you could still try the uninstaller I mention to see if it can find and clear any residue, apart from that you should be fine, of course if you have any reason to suspect something isn't right then pop over to the infection section and ask the guys to check you out, they are busy people, so I don't believe you need to go to them, but at least you'll know for future use.
