I don't have that file in front of me anymore.. But, make sure you typed in the filename exactly as it is supposed to be. If you accidentally typed a character wrong or something, you would get that same error.
Cut and paste it from Windows Explorer so there is no chance of making a mistake. The easiest way to do this that I've found it to select the file, then press F2 (rename). Then you can right click and copy the filename.ext, then press the Esc key to cancel the renam.
Hello again, I did verify the name of file when running, copied and pasted from the file name in the properties box. Ran the EXE/LNK fix with no improvement. To see if it was an issue with all installations I downloaded and installed firefox (was planing to do that anyway). It had an .exe installer. It installed without problem as normal. From this it seems to be an issue specific to the Nvidia installer. Hope this offers a clue. Thanks
Try renaming the file to some obscure name.. Try "videodriver.exe" and then run it. Also, look to see if there is a C:\nvidia folder. This is where it decompresses to.
Checked for an Nvidia folder on the drive and could not find one there. I renamed the file and attempted to run in a dos box. It literally did nothing. I keyed in the new name (NDriver.exe) and hit enter. It took the command and gave me the next command prompt. No error, no action evident from the system, no sign of an install. I know this isn't much to go on. Any other thoughts? Tony
Renamed to NDriver.com and tried it. No difference. Tony A quick addition. I have been poking around and found what I think are Nvidia files in a folder (C:\Drivers\Video\Addon). These files are all dated 2003. These may have come pre-installed on the computer. I did check device manager and my card is recognized, but flagged as no driver installed. I have made the assumption that is telling me it thinks there is no old driver hanging around. I had run driversweeper as suggested by Abydos in an earlier post and these files did not show up in that scan. Any possibility that these may be the issue? If so, any thoughts on how best to get rid of them?
